Quality and validity in animal research 09/02/2018

Quality and validity in animal research

Dear LabVet followers

All Labvets every month are presented for a Talk of the Month. In February Dr. Anna Olsson from the University of Porto in Portugal talks about 'Quality and Validity of Animal Research'.

It is a Henry Stewart Talk, i.e. it is brought to LabVet from this collaborator. You can see the first minutes of it here
https://hstalks.com/t/3385/quality-and-validity-in-animal-research/?biosci

As part of LabVet Europe you will get full access to all talks (and the number is huge) within biomedicine at Henry Stewart Talks.

Elvis Presley Lonely This Christmas 23/12/2017

Elvis Presley Lonely This Christmas

Dear LabVet'ers

Just before X-mas peace comes around (and family with everything what that means comes with it), I want to thank you all for following LabVet Europe in 2017.
It has been an exciting year for us, as we have graduated our first 4 candidates: One from Singapore, one from Austria, one from India, and one from Finland. We are an internatonal community, and some of us will celebrate X-mas and others have other traditions. But the veterinay profession and the interest in laboratory animal medicine we have in common. I can see that many of our students are progressing, so we expect to have even more graduates this summer. It is the common activities of the LabVet students and the LabVet teachers that make the success of such a program as LabVet Europe.
We have made an agreement with the European College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ECLAM) that all of their diplomats can have access to LabVet Europe. We hope this will create more interaction and discussion inside the LabVet Europe community, and we hope that LabVet students as future specialists will use this opportunity of communicating with the present specialists, the diplomats. Hopefully, it will also inspire some of you are just Facebook followers to enter LabVet Europe and maybe further on the track of becoming a diplomat yourself. If you register as an ECLAM trainee you will get a 10 % discount on all our course activities, including LabVet Europe.
I wish those of you, who celebrate X-mas, a merry X-mas, those who follow other traditions maybe some happy holidays or maybe just some nice quiet days with time for study, and I wish anyone of you all the best in 2018.
I expect that the next days will be quiet on LabVet Europe, and I can only say with Elvis Presly 'It will be lonely this Christimas', but I expect a lot of activities again after New Year.

Today we can celebrate Emrah from Finland, who has graduated from LabVet Europe, as he had his ethics report accepted, as his very last mandatory task. Emrah is already working as designated veterinarian, but hopefully he can use the knowledge he has achieved through the program is his present job. He will as all our graduates still be able to use the LabVet portal for interacting with the community and to follow all updates or to repeat some of the stuff, if he feels like.
We are proud of Emrah, and with this new graduation, we really feel international having graduates from so different parts of Earth. 😊🐀🇫🇮️🇪🇺️

14/12/2017

Today we bring our congratulations to Sarita from India, who has graduated from LabVet Europe after passing both the oral and the written exam, getting her reports on both ethics and legislation accepted, and also has had an accept of her site visit report.
We will now register Sarita in the FELASA database. She will as all our graduates maintain her access to the system.
We wish her all the best in her future working life.😀🐱🇩🇰️🇮🇳️

I wish you all of our friends a pleasant summer, and I hope those of you who consider entering the program will get closer to taking a decision. We would love to take you through it and see more lab animal vets from our FELASA accredited program.

Training

Dear all LabVet followers

Happy May 1.

The talk of the month for May inside the LabVet European Community, which all who joins LabVet will have life-long access to, is an interview and lab visit with professor Wendy Barcly from Imperial College in London, who tells us about using ferrets for the study of flue.

The deadline for exam registration is approaching and four of our LabVet'ers have already registered. It will be fantastic for us all to graduate the first FELASA accredited desginated vets.

For those of our LabVet'ers who are European active, we now offer to help them get into an alternate training route for becoming an ECLAM diplomat.

Best wishes
Axel
