The C.A.L.M prescription!
Long term stress plays havoc on our immune systems which we need at peak performance right now. The challenge at hand, is to stay CALM in the face of the uncertainty, fear and stress that the COVID19 pandemic is causing.
I have therefore created a very simple daily regime designed to boost your health, called C.A.L.M which stands for:
C - Clarity + Connection -> by writing
A - Anti-inflammatory diet -> green diet
L - Love - >hobbies, play, relationships
M - Meditation + Mindfulness + Movement

C - CLARITY + CONNECTION
Instead of getting overwhelmed by panic, fear & chaos, CONNECT to yourself, by writing down the very first thoughts that pop into your head in the morning. Notice how it helps you gain CLARITY over the situation. This DAILY practice detangles the chaos in our minds, and can likened to a brain cleanse. It eases ‘tankemylder’ a Danish term for messy thoughts. For more on in this writing method read:

A - ANTI-INFLAMMATORY DIETS are basically “green diets”. Fruits and vegetables are packed with nutrients, vitamins and minerals, readily absorbed by the body. An increased intake of greens, not only boosts the immune system but greatly impacts our mental and physical health.

L - LOVE opens you up to the world. It brings joy, and floods our bodies with endorphins, increasing vitality and improving problem solving skills. Fear on the other hand, compromises vitality and shuts down your creative thinking. Love is not only romantic relationships, but also doing something you love, like a hobby, play, meaningful work or relations.

M - MEDITATION + MINDFULNESS + MOTION. It is not enough to know it, you actually have to DO IT DAILY. Meditation can be tricky for the new beginner, keep trying. Likewise, MOVE your body DAILY. Dance, run, do yoga, or walk. Exercise improves wellbeing leading to CALMer nerves, this boosting your immune system.

IT’S BEEN A WILD ROLLERCOASTER RIDE!
Feeling anxious? Feeling caged in?
At this very moment, some of you are in quarantine, some may even have symptoms of the virus, or may be worried about your loved ones, your jobs, businesses and the financial effects of this hot mess. The news seems bleak and frightening.
What are these new times we are in?
Interestingly, some news reporters are using war terminology to describe the situation, and indeed some scenes rolling across the screen could be likened to war, a very different kind of war though, war against a microbe - COVID19🦠😳 Only, we can’t shoot the damn virus, not even with vaccines or medication, because they aren’t available yet. So very sensible strategies like regular hand washing, sanitizers and #staythef**khome are being hammered into our heads to #flattenthecurve👍🏼 So as we hunker down to brave a possible storm, a “weapon” worth considering is to #calmthepanic, so we don’t get more ill from the stress of it all. Follow news developments, ofcourse, but don’t watch it all day. Instead go within yourself and find ways to boost your HEALTH, your mental health, physical health and spiritual health, or even the health of the planet, if you can 🌍. When we are calm and in PLAY mode, we become more creative at problem solving and better able to adapt and transform ourselves to handle the unpredictable. So at a time where we may be feeling a bit cooped up indoors with the kids, the dogs, the cats and wot not, and a bit scared out of our wits, remember to hang on to good HEALTH boosters like being:
1. Mindful of your emotions
2. Meditate🧘🏻‍♀️🧘🏻‍♂️
3. Move your body - yoga, dance
4. Delve into a hobby, or read a book, bake or play.
5. Maintain meaningful connections ♥️ Lastly, the importance of a plant 🌱 based diet to boost our HEALTH cannot be overemphasized.
