Amos Vogel (1922–2012) was the founder of Cinema 16 and New York Film Festival. An Austrian Jewish immigrant, Vogelbaum, as he was called when still in Austria, dedicated his life to supporting the pioneering efforts of independent artists and aesthetic rebels.
