It’s already a second painting of “unfinished” magnolias.
And again I find myself in that same hesitation - wondering if I should complete it.

But I’m starting to see these sketched, simple petals differently. They don’t feel unfinished or incomplete anymore (don’t they?). They are more like a breath?

Suddenly I realized that finishing it would have meant taking something away, not adding anything.

So I left it. Not because it was perfect, but because it didn’t need to be anything more ✨

Maybe for some of you it already feels complete too - it’s ready for a new home 🌸🙂

Magnolia season has already passed and I’m still painting them. Why?
It’s not only their form I love, but what they represent to me - strength and delicacy existing at the same time.
Resilient, feminine, soft, yet powerful 🌸
Aren’t we all a little like magnolias?

Still in the process of this one 🌸 It started pretty dramatically and I wasn’t really happy with it at first, but now I can’t wait to see it finished 🙂

Details 🌸

Watercolor painting. Floral sketch. Soft carbon drawing.

At first, this piece was supposed to stay black and white. I started with an ink sketch, then experimented with a soft carbon pencil. It’s water-soluble, so I played with a few washes… And I love how it creates this in-between space of drawing and painting. The black is beautifully deep, maybe even a bit too dramatic for florals 😉 The magnolias started to look a little sad, so I kept going and added watercolor and oil pastels. It’s still a work in progress, but I’m excited about this direction. What do you think?
PS. There has been so many magnolias in my feed lately… I guess it’s not really difficult to guess what’s my favourite flower 😬🌸

Do you remember when I asked whether I should finish those two unfinished paintings?
100% of you said yes.
Did you expect it to turn into this?
I definitely didn’t. 😉

The tulips were the first flowers I painted after a long break - a quiet beginning that helped me find calm again.
It’s part of my 2026 watercolor calendar, filled with flowers painted through the seasons, each one with its own little story.
Over the next days, I’ll be sharing more about the other flowers featured in the calendar - their meanings and the moments behind each painting. 🌸✨
The calendar is available in pre-sale until 16th of November. Link in bio.
