Next academic year, the Cyprus Computer Museum will proudly showcase its extensive collection of original flight and space simulator games, spanning almost five decades of digital history.

From Atari VCS Star Raiders in 1980, with its innovative Video Touch Pad controller, to the early versions of Elite, the legendary Wing Commander series, classic flight simulators, unique controllers, and modern PSVR2 space experiences, this collection tells the story of how computers helped generations dream of flying, exploring, and travelling beyond Earth.

A unique journey through flight, space, gaming, and computing history.

On April the 20th, Mr Vadim Dulub, his wife and their son visited the Cyprus Computer Museum and donated an Elektronika BK0010-01 personal computer. This is a 16-bit personal computer created in 1985 by the leading Soviet Union computer design team, NPO Scientific Center. It was an official government computer for personal use, mainly at home, even though its cost was prohibitive for its time.

We could argue that the BK0010-01 was the equivalent (in spirit) to the BBC Micro - a computer authorised by a government, to help the next generation of computer users at home.

We would like to thank Mr Dulub again for his kind contribution. Our intention is to document the computers of Eastern Europe and enlarge our collection - with this machine being the first!

Tomorrow, Friday the 24th, we’ll have the honor of interviewing Dr. Steve Furber, the renowned Acorn engineer who co-created the ARM processor alongside Sophie Wilson — a groundbreaking innovation that powers billions of devices today.

We’re also deeply grateful to Dr. Furber for sharing his insights in our upcoming eBook on the UK’s pioneering contributions to computing. Stay tuned for more!

So excited for this interview! Dr Steve Furber, co-creator of almost every computer released by Acorn, and the co-creator of the Acorn RISC Machine, better known today as the ARM processor.

ARM powers almost every mobile device, from the humble BBC Micro:bit to the Raspberry Pi, to mobile phones, tablets and every single Apple hardware, including Macintosh computers.

His contribution is immense, and we are looking forward to our interview this Friday. The video will be released on the YouTube channel of the Cyprus Computer Museum and on our web page (https://mouseio.org) later next week. Stay tuned!
