What’s the difference between CWT and CWTB? About 7 seconds…😎 I did two 90 meter dives in CWT (red) and CWTB (white). The first picture shows a that the bottom time for both dives are about the same and that the surface time differs about 7 seconds. The second picture show that my ascent speed is considerable slower with the bifins. You can also see that i am getting a lot more tired with the bifins as i am getting closer to the surface.. Iam not sure which is the best strategy regarding speed here, should i push and do a faster dive or go slower and conserve energy.. 🤔 Anyways, this was only my second deeper bifins dive this year. I hope increase the depth a few more meters this season.. a good start though! 🐳

I love CWT and the monofin. It’s my absolute favourite discipline. I love the speed, the flow and the control my monofin gives me. Every dive I do with my monofin is pure pleasure. Sure, I can be nervous on the surface before the dive. As soon as I start to descend and the power of my monofin kicks in I feel a wave of calmness echo trough my body and I know that everything is going to be alright..

Here is todays dive as speed vs depth diagram, my favourite for analysing speed at different depth. Today I was experimenting with adding more kicks during the free fall phase. As you can see I did two kicks at around 45 and 60 meters. Here I tried to relax and keep my “natural” posture after each kick. It’s clear in the graph that I slow down to a terminal velocity after each kick. So even though I speed up, there is very little speed gain here. However, at around 70 meters I do another kick where I also try to straighten my body and monofin to be more vertically aligned with the rope. Because of this I get less drag and my speed actually increases! There is of course always a trade off between straight posture and relaxation. This dive was about 4 seconds faster to reach 100 than my previous dive. So for me it is probably worth it.

Due to an extremely painful and stiff neck I was forced to rest for a few days.. so I decided to fix a few bugs, improve the graph a bit and make a release.. So Apnealizer 5.0.1 is out now. Mac users should get a notification to download 5.0.1. Windows users should be updated automatically.. The graph improvement is that the average speed overlay now shown on up to two dives which makes it easier to see speed differences between two dives.. like the second picture shows.. enjoy!😉
