Review by Juno Download : Milos Djordjevic, or better known as Tonbe, gives us his next installment of retro disco and house music on Tonbe's Old Remastered Tunes Vol 4. Released via his Disco Fruit imprint, this collection sounds like a blend of having a nostalgia trip while visiting some unknown box of rare disco space funk records from the late 70s and early 80s. The amount of fun injected into these tracks is equaled by the quality and the aura of a great night out disco dancing. "Cosmic Nag" kicks off some of the highlights with shimmering vocoder work and a faint but worthy comparison to the sounds of Daft Punk, blending electro-house and funk with interstellar flair. "Little Things" is a touch darker, building 80s funk textures with a slow burning groove, while "Need For Pleasure" has some sultry vocals and tight drum programming into a Hi-NRG-tinged disco burner. Tonbe's strength lies in atmosphere. "Sea Journey" drifts on lush strings and late-night escapism, capturing that joys of an all night dancefloor feeling. "So Sexy" gives us memories of Midnight Star and The Gap Band with crisp electro-funk energy, while "This Is The Place" echoes the slick groove sensibilities of Michael Jackson's Off The Wall era through its beautiful synth arrangement, strong bassline and funky guitar licks. Closing highlight "What You Want" has a gritty synth sound with catchy vocals and plenty of cosmic effects. This volume is a victorious homage to disco while succeeding at setting itself apart as well.

Review : Via this third instalment in the ongoing 'Remastered Old Tunes' series, Disco Fruit founder Tonbe continues to offer up sonically refreshed gems from his vast back catalogue. The Serbian nu-disco stalwart has chosen 17 more club ready and frequently fiendishly funky cuts this time around, with highlights lurking around every corner. For proof, check the Clavinet-sporting revivalist electrofunk squelch of 'Give Me Funk', the sample-rich mid-tempo Blaxploitation funk of '14th Street', the organ-heavy rush of 'Rare Groove Part 2', the slowed-down, loved-up disco edit action of 'The Way You Love Me', the heavy funk-with-house-beats of 'Hold Me Tight' and the elastic P-funk flavours of 'Give Me Right Now'.
