When I was 11 my dad took my see a greenhouse of his Japanese friend. Although Honda (who was a general importer of Mitsubishi off all) married a Serb and moved here to Belgrade permanently, he still managed to get a lot of Asian hybrids, from Astros to Gymnos, Haworthias even. Boy, was his collection impressive! In Belgrade in the mid 90s almost every plant he owned was simply miraculous! Yet one glance at this Agave macroacantha plant, now 27 years ago, made me fall in love with it. Honda noticed this instand bond and gifted the plant to me, despite having just got it himself. Being a well-mannered kid, i was reluctant to take it first, but I simply could not take my eyes off of it.
And it's been with us since. ☺️
A few springs ago we were reckles when we're moving it out from hybernation, and it got a severe sunburn. 😔 It took a while for new growth to take over. And this year I can finally say my baby has recovered. Thank you, my gorgeos one, for your resilience. ❤
