Kumba City Mayor race:
-Court rules in favour of Victor Nkelle
-His opponent, Gregory Mewanu, petitioned the court to instate him as City Mayor
BY PRINCE OBEN AGBOR IN KUMBA
A Court judgement at the South West Regional Administrative Court in Buea to determine whether the election of the City Mayor of the Kumba City Council was in accordance with the investiture of the ruling CPDM Party which witnessed the election of Victor Ngoh Nkelle as the pioneer City Mayor, has been handed down.
Passing the judgement this Thursday April 9, 2020, the President of the Administrative Court in Buea, dismissed the case in favour of the Pioneer City Mayor, Victor Ngoh Nkelle, and maintained that he remains the Kumba City Council Mayor.
The petitioner, who was runners up in the election, has taken the matter to the administrative court claiming that the CPDM Party had invested in him as the only candidate for the position of the City Mayor of the Kumba City council, a thing which the petitioner, Gregory Mewanu, says was violated as three candidates stood for the race which Victor Ngoh Nkelle won by 38 votes .
The petitioner, Gregory Mewanu, had petitioned the court to cancel the election and instate him as the Kumba City Council mayor.
The protracted legal battle has come to an end and Victor Ngoh Nkelle is and will continued to be the city mayor of Kumba City Council.
