Samuel Eto'o, president of the Cameroon Football Federation, Samuel Eto'o, announced referees salaries will now be taken care of by the country's football governing body shifting away from a responsibility that was previously done by the state.

This decision is based on his 26 years of experience in professional football which according to him, it became necessary to step out of a model where the majority of the expenditure of national teams was almost entirely based on public finances.

He further states, the evolution does not constitute a break with public powers but instead aims to recognize the state's historical support for Cameroonian football while showing that the federation is now able to take on more responsibilities as well as reduce some past tensions surrounding the management of national football.
