Our response to recent online discussions.

We understand and respect the concerns raised about protecting Aitutaki Lagoon — it’s something we care deeply about too.

We are locals in Aitutaki who have owned and operated jet skis in New Zealand for over 25 years without incident, and we bring that same level of care, safety, and environmental responsibility to our operations here. Our tours are guided, controlled, and follow strict practices to protect coral, marine life, and the lagoon environment.

We recognise that many people value the peace and quiet of Aitutaki. Our usual operations are conducted away from holiday accommodation and sensitive areas, within designated channels already used by other boats and tour operators to avoid additional impact.

When operated responsibly, modern jet skis can be an efficient option on the water, typically using less fuel than larger vessels and creating less wake, which helps minimise shoreline and reef disturbance.

In addition to jet ski tours, we also cater to those who prefer a more relaxed and tranquil way to enjoy the lagoon.

The recent activity mentioned was a one-off community beach day during the school holidays, organised to give local children a chance to safely enjoy the lagoon — something many don’t often get the opportunity to do. The noise heard from the beach was simply kids having fun in a supervised setting, and not something that occurs regularly.

The very small number of jet skis we operate, and the level of noise produced, is comparable to other vessels in the lagoon.

We remain committed to balancing responsible tourism, environmental protection, and giving back to the local community we’re proud to be part of. We’re always open to constructive conversations about how we can continue to do this in the best possible way.
