Today we proudly present our maker* of June.
Corinne Vontobel is part of our members community since quite some time. She designs and makes her wooden prototypes which she then translates into her functional ceramic ware. We are happy to be able to showcase her work in our windows through our Meet the maker* program.

Corinne writes:

I grew up in a creative environment where designing, experimenting and creating were part of everyday life. This meant I came into contact with various materials from an early age, including clay.

I later developed a more conscious approach to it through friends and as part of a ceramics course. Since then, working with clay has become a recurring source of balance for me. In an otherwise busy daily life, these hours help me to find peace, focus and be creative at the same time.

Over time, I developed a desire to create my own design language and bring it to life. To do this, I made a wooden prototype, which served as the basis for further development.

I experimented, made adjustments and developed the idea step by step. The result of this process was the ‘Anthia’ tableware collection.ceramics

Something special, spontaneous, and on short notice:

This coming weekend, Lilly Haas (aka Ida Kumori) will host a porcelain wheel-throwing workshop.

We have only 2 spots left on each day. Booking is first come, first served.

The workshop is open to anyone who wants to refine their wheel-throwing skills with porcelain, or make the shift from stoneware to porcelain and understand its different behaviour on the wheel.

If you’ve been wanting to work more closely with porcelain, this is a good moment to do it.

At the studio we are always looking for ways to create something special for our members and community. That’s why we launched our very first competition. Hopefully one of many.

The brief was simple and intentionally open: Create an animal or fantasy creature.

For the past couple of months, the studio has been fully in creature making mode, resulting in 22 incredible submissions.

We are happy that Stuart Carey and Laurin Schaub formed our jury and took on the difficult task of selecting the 3 winning entries.
But the winners are still secret..
They will be revealed on May 28 at our official opening.

Until then, we are proud to present glimpses of the still anonymous submissions.

Join us for the opening: 28.05 at 6.30pm
