Cultivating Hope: From Bare Earth to a Brighter Future 🌽
At SCA, we believe that protecting a child starts with securing their environment.
Today, we’re looking at these flourishing maize stalks as a symbol of the resilience we see in the families we support every day.
A Story from the Field:
One mother we worked with recently shared: "There was a time when I didn't know if my children would have a meal tomorrow, let alone a safe place to play. SCA didn't just give us a handout; they gave us a pathway. Now, I see my children growing tall and strong, just like this crop."
The Impact:
By integrating community support with sustainable initiatives, we are ensuring that over 1,000 children have more than just protection they have a future rooted in stability.
Together, we aren't just planting seeds; we're harvesting sunlight and hope.

Turning Dry Earth into a Greener Future 🥬☀️
At Stop Child Abuse (SCA), we believe that child protection starts with a full stomach and a stable home.
These photos from our SCA farm show our latest progress in the Kakuma and Kalobeyei refugee camps.
What we are doing:
Despite the harsh, cracked soil you see in the photos, our team is working tirelessly to cultivate crops that will provide nutrition for vulnerable children and families in our community. We are moving away from traditional aid cycles and toward The Green Engine our initiative for solar-powered irrigation and community-led farming.
The Challenge:
The heat is intense, and the ground is parched. Without consistent water and sustainable tools, these young plants struggle to reach their full potential.
How you can help:
We need your support to scale our solar-powered boreholes. By transitioning to 100% fuel-free irrigation, we can turn this dry land into a permanent source of life for the 13th year of our mission.

Community-driven solutions for educational equity.
At Stop Child Abuse (SCA), we believe that education is the ultimate form of child protection.
Our latest remedial sessions are helping students regain lost time and build essential literacy and numeracy skills in a safe, supportive environment.
By providing tailored support to children who have faced significant barriers to traditional schooling, we are ensuring that no child in our community is left behind. Seeing their progress at the chalkboard today is a reminder of why refugee-led initiatives are so vital we understand the challenges because we live them.

Cultivating Resilience: A Fresh Update from SCA Farm! 🌱
The hard work at SCA Farm never stops, and we’re thrilled to share how the fields are looking today.
From leafy greens to ripening fruit, the bounty is growing!
🍅 Tomato Season is Here!
Our tomato patch is thriving. You can see the vines are heavy with healthy, green tomatoes just waiting for that perfect splash of sun to turn them bright red. It’s all about patience and careful tending at this stage.
🌿 Okra in Bloom
The okra plants are standing tall! We’re seeing beautiful blossoms and the first pods starting to emerge. Our team is out in the field daily, ensuring every plant gets the attention it needs to reach its full potential.
💧 Sustainable Growth
Through dedicated care and smart irrigation, we’re keeping the soil rich and the crops hydrated, even in the heat. It’s a labor of love, and seeing the field lush and green makes every hour worth it.
Agriculture is our wisest pursuit, because it will in the end contribute most to real wealth, good morals, and happiness.
Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to harvest!

Empowering Our Community for Child Protection
Protecting our children is a shared responsibility, and it starts with the voices of those who care for them every day.
At Stop Child Abuse (SCA), we recently hosted an impactful awareness session with parents and caregivers to discuss how we can create a safer environment for every child.
The energy in the room was a powerful reminder that when we come together, we build a shield of protection around our youth.
A Voice from the Community: One parent Story
Before today, I thought child protection was only about big interventions from the authorities. After this session, I realize that the most important protection starts with me listening to my child’s silences and being the person they aren’t afraid to talk to. I now feel empowered to notice the signs I used to overlook.

The Reality: Challenges Our Parents Face
While the will to protect is strong, our caregivers shared the real-world obstacles they encounter daily:
Economic Pressure: High levels of poverty sometimes force children into labor to help the family survive, increasing their vulnerability.
Cultural Silence: The traditional taboo around discussing abuse makes it difficult for children to speak out and for parents to ask for help.
Limited Resources: A lack of nearby counseling services and legal support makes it hard for families to seek justice when incidents occur.
 Our Commitment
At SCA, we aren't just identifying these challenges; we are working alongside you to solve them. Through education, community-led advocacy, and constant dialogue, we are turning these obstacles into stepping stones for a safer future.
Join the movement. Every child deserves a childhood free from fear.

Strengthening Child Protection Systems in Kalobeyei Settlement

In partnership with Save the Children Kenya Save the Children Kenya, we are proud to announce the successful completion of our comprehensive awareness campaign across all villages in Kalobeyei.

Our mission was clear: Bridge the gap between silence and safety. Key Focus Areas:

Identification: Training caregivers on physical, emotional, and developmental indicators of abuse.

Systemic Reporting: Strengthening localized channels to ensure whistleblowers are protected and incidents are documented.

Overcoming Barriers: Addressing the cultural stigma and lack of resources that lead to unreported cases.

The Safety of Schools: Promoting education as a strategic tool to reduce the risk of exploitation.

Impact Story: One father shared that after learning about Behavioral Shifts,he realized his son’s withdrawal wasn't laziness but a cry for help. By connecting him to SCA’s psychosocial support, that family is now on a path to recovery.

Through collaboration, we are ensuring that every child in Kalobeyei has a voice and a protector.

Reflecting on a Year of Impact: Welcoming Cohere and Porticus
We are thrilled to welcome our partners from Cohere and Porticus to the Stop Child Abuse (SCA) project site this week! Their visit marks a significant milestone as we evaluate our first year of empowering the community to protect and promote children’s rights.
Over the past year, our focus on Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and advocacy has created a foundation for lasting change. By providing children with the tools to express themselves and building community-led protection systems, we are ensuring every child has the right to a safe and bright future.
A highlight of our work involves engaging children aged 4 to 10 in creative play. These activities are more than just games; they are vital for building the confidence and problem-solving skills necessary for their development.
Thank you to our partners for walking this journey with us. Together, we are turning advocacy into action!

Building Dreams, One Brick at a Time! 🧱
At Stop Child Abuse (SCA), we believe that play is the highest form of research.
Today, our children aged 4 to 10 took part in a creative Lego building session that was about much more than just plastic bricks.
Watching these young minds design and build tall towers and unique structures helps them develop:
Fine motor skills and spatial awareness.
Problem-solving abilities as they figure out how to make their towers stand tall.
Confidence and joy as they proudly show off their colorful creations!
By providing a safe space for play, we are helping these children build a foundation for a brighter, more imaginative future.

Cultivating Partnerships for Community Impact
We were honored to host the team from Inkomoko Global at the SCA today! It was an inspiring day of site visits and deep-dive discussions on how our organizations can join forces to serve our communities more effectively.
By combining Inkomoko’s expertise in business growth with our commitment to sustainable agriculture and child protection, we are exploring new ways to create economic resilience for the families we support.
When like-minded organizations collaborate, the harvest is always greater. We are excited about what the future holds for this partnership!
