We have trained over 150 farmers in Kamuli district under their umbrella body Kamuli District Farmers' Associations. These were trained in production, post harvest handling, quality control and management, pests and disease control, collective marketing and value addition. This is under the Skills Development Facility (SDF) through Private Sector Foundation with funding from World Bank.

The farmers were also given farm inputs to practice what they learnt.

Package Descriptions.
1 The Innovation Culture At least 60% of people are likely to be good at innovating regardless of what they do but nearly 90% of these do not innovate because they lack the courage to do so or the environment in which they work just inhibits them. The few that are able to innovate do so amidst great challenges. Our Culture package is designed to ignite creative sparks to foster innovation within your organization. In order to formulate organization-specific innovation cultures, we begin with an organizational survey on the existing values, behaviors, climate, resources, processes and results. Based on our findings, we will agree with the client on the innovation roadmap. In most cases, we will also conduct two behavioral workshops; one to foster innovation competencies and the second to create general awareness and enlist organization-wide support. In public and voluntary organizations, we also deliver sessions to strengthen “business culture”.
2 Outreach packages for enterprise support organizations Where our mission is to promote small business growth, we undertake outreach campaigns aimed at promoting development agencies and corporate to small enterprises as potential clients. Through such campaigns, we are able to sign up customers into small enterprise programs – whether they are commercial or development programs. We provide technical support for developing enterprise promotion strategies and skills through consultative meetings, needs assessment and training courses suitable for grant managers, project officers and advisors, who are largely involved in facilitation rather than direct implementation of small businesses. We also develop enterprise promotion manuals, trainers’ manuals etc.
3 Entrepreneurial accelerator Entrepreneurial accelerator is a catalyst for renewal, growth and success. It enables businesspeople to increase their levels of confidence, tap into opportunities, manage risks, create customer loyalty, and build effective networks and to make and use realistic plans. Its unique feature is its power to inspire creative thinking, increase motivation and transform the character of businesspeople. Optional business management modules are offered to integrate behavior and skill in basic areas like keeping records, financial management, productivity improvement, credit management and sales management irrespective of lack of prior knowledge in these areas.
4 Financial Insight Financial Insight Consists of five packages tailor-made for: (i) inspiring the youth to live productive lives, (ii) lifting individuals struggling to get out of poverty, (iii) supporting employees to thrive on their jobs, (iv) enabling small and medium sized businesses to increase their financial growth, and (v) saving borrowers from choking with bad debt. It empowers individuals to shed off non-progressive thinking, attitudes and influences associated with losers and survivors; to develop a personal financial blue print defining a new destiny and character associated with winners; to break out of the salary and loan traps; and identify ways in which their personal financial security will lead to higher productivity wherever they work. Tools used include self-reflection, simulation of real life opportunities, motivational experiences and action steps (Fin Plan).
5 Building customer-driven brands This solution consists of selling and customer service packages. Selling through the customer’s mind helps sales people understand how the customer’s mind works. Using that information, the salesperson is able to align with the buyer’s mind using essential steps before, during and after the sales process. The package is also used by managers to effective sales strategies. It is normally delivered through a two-day workshop and follow-up support. The customer service package provides brand diagnostics, employee behavioral change and system development. Quality is used as the main tool for focusing the business on satisfying customers and transforming work culture by removing stains in the products and services, identifying behaviours that attract customers, increasing the capability of business drivers to efficiently satisfy.
6 Strategies for growing businesses Growth presents both challenges and opportunities e.g. when new markets necessitate the owner manager to draw clear strategies to tap those opportunities or the business’ capacity seems over-stretched to finance production and services for an expanding market. When customer demands are increasing but the continuity of the business depends on the owner-manager; or when the business becomes so visible and a number of new businesses have emerged to offer similar products and services, Our tools enable businesses to transform from an owner-driven business to a customer-driven brand; develop plans and use them in day-to-day operations; strengthen operational and financial management systems; build high-performing teams; and develop low-cost marketing and selling strategies.
7 Promoting cooperatives and small scale enterprises ( making cooperatives bankable) This product is primarily designed for small and medium microfinance and agribusiness enterprises to better understand the requirements of banks and prepare them for a relationship with the commercial bank. It can be customized for small businesses intending to access services from other financial institutions, such as microfinance institutions. A variation of this product is to down scale it to help financial institutions better understand small businesses and thus be able to develop or modify products that respond to the needs of those businesses.
8 Market assessments We are engaged in assisting private businesses establish market potential for their products and services, whether those companies are starting or expanding. Our approach traces market drivers and translates them into competitive advantages the firm must build into its marketing and sales strategies. Aware that most enterprises do not have large marketing resources, our approach is to identify high-potential market segments where the enterprise can build competitive advantage.
9 Feasibility studies and business plans Many businesses make lots of excuses for not planning; yet the lack of planning is one of the reasons for the high business failure rates. Our approach is to empower enterprises to identify the scope of information they need, be able to collect and analyze it so that our engagement as experts in the planning process is limited to technical analysis. In this way, we help the enterprises to develop the culture to implement the feasibility studies and business plans they prepare.

A&E ASSOCIATES has a long experience in project design, capacity building, management and implementation in the agribusiness and microfinance sector development. The experts have implemented agribusiness and financial education programs under EU, DFID, IFAD, and UNDP mainly through the Government Cooperative Programme (GCP), Unilateral Trust Fund (UTF), the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and other partners to international donors like Agriterra, Agribusiness Initiative Trust (ABI-TRUST), United States African Development Foundation (USADF) and many others through their supported organizations.
Some of the experts have gained tremendous experience in enhancing resilience and ability of affected populations in the north to recover from human and natural disasters and to reduce people’s dependence on food aid.
This includes increasing access to improved banking services, introduction of new technology and training in order to increase financial access for both men and women as well as for youth and the less advantaged people in rural and urban setting.
