After touring tons of vinyl dens and talking to collectors all over the world, I started noticing some patterns. In this video, I break down 10 Truths About Record Collectors (or at least Channel 33 RPM viewers).
I love that collectors have so much in common.

As predicted, my review ruffled a few feathers (I said the new Anthrax was good - but not great)... Here's the thing: fandom (of any band) shouldn't be unconditional. Blind loyalty removes critical thought and honest analysis. If you love an album, that's great. If you don't, that's cool too.

I Wanted to LOVE The New Anthrax... (+ War's Greatest Hits & MORE) The long-wait is over—Anthrax has released their first new album in...
I completely forgot I posted this to SoundCloud years ago until it popped up as a Facebook memory (see the link in the comments).
This is my high school band, Rhythm Child. We recorded this original track, "Hit The Stage," back in 1990. I was 16 or 17, played guitar, and co-wrote the song along with the other guys (and 36 years later, I still cringe at that out-of-tune E).
I recall trying to go for an Aerosmith vibe with the main riff—something in the vein of "Walk This Way" or "Sweet Emotion"—though hearing it now, it reminds me more of Mötley Crüe's "Something For Nothing." For the middle breakdown, I was aiming for an Anthrax feel, and the drumming in that part is fantastic.
The lyrics were all about us itching to gig and "hit the stage." My favorite part is still the "take all your cash" bit, which was our bass player’s idea.
Man, those were the days, eh Moe Prudhomme and Rob Hermann?

My review copy of Van Halen’s A Different Kind of Truth landed in my mailbox a month early!
Compared to the original pressing, the cover on this reissue isn't embossed and loses the foil finish, but otherwise they look virtually identical side-by-side. My copy arrived with some damage to the cover. I haven't spun it yet (just walked in the door from work and found it waiting), but a full review is coming soon.
Where do you stand on A Different Kind of Truth—underrated late-era gem or mid-tier Van Halen? Let me know!

I have mixed feelings on the new Anthrax.... the production is great.... cool riffs.... Joey is on point... but a lot of the songs aren't grabbing me, even after a couple of listens. Several kinda sound the same. But who knows? This album this may be a grower (for the record, Anthrax is my fav of the Big 4). What are your thoughts on the album?
