Much of the loneliness in this world comes from the fact that very few people feel truly seen.

So many of us have spent our lives hiding parts of ourselves in order to stay safe. Hiding our pain. Hiding our fears. Hiding our needs, our grief, our shame, our tenderness. But what we hide doesn’t disappear. It lives underneath the surface and often becomes projection, blame, resentment, withdrawal, or the feeling that we are somehow separate from one another.

Real intimacy begins when we become honest with ourselves first. When we stop making others responsible for what is unresolved within us. When we begin listening to our own hearts deeply enough that we no longer need to control the emotional environment around us.

The more intimate we become with our own hearts, the less we need others to change in order for us to remain open. From that place, we stop reacting from old wounds as often. We become less defensive, less blaming, and more capable of meeting others with understanding and honesty.

This is part of our collective evolution.
