Three years of consistency and discipline.

From grade 7 to grade 9, every Friday afternoon, we would meet up for an hour of brush pen calligraphy. Recently we have also practiced some Chinese characters. We barely skipped a day unless one of us was out of town.

This kind of persistence and commitment are hard to find in a young teenager. It has been a pleasure to have Logan as my student.

As we wrap up the end of this chapter of our journey, I picked a pen in one of his favourite colours. At first I was going to engrave his initials on it. I decided that it would be more meaningful if Logan drafts his signature shrimp flourishing and I engrave it. It turned out so cute!

The thoughtfulness crochet is a gift from him and his family to me, created by his aunt from oversea.

When a calligraphy event turned into pet portraits illustration 🐶🐕🦮🐩🐕‍🦺🐾

Another year back with for Lunar New Year. We created a horse illustration for this year. During the live event, pet portraits were requested. Who can say no to these cuties!

Pet portraits do take a longer time to complete. Thank you all for your patience 🥰.

Chinese New Year Workshop at

Grateful to be back at Opal for another year of Chinese calligraphy and art. This time we also worked with Licensed Care and provided a rubbing art workshop that was suitable for the residents.

This event happened at the same time as another one that I was committed to. I am so glad that I was able to invite .art to partner with me! We were expecting around 400 guests. She handled the live event portion while I prepared the in-studio work. This was Siqi's first time as a live event calligrapher. She did such an amazing job! I was able to visit during the last hour. Loved watching her interaction with the guests.

I wish I created more of the horse 🐎 version of the 福🧧. I didn’t realized it would be so popular!

Lunar New Year with The City of Lougheed

This year first LNY event was with This is my third year writing Chinese calligraphy on Fai Chun for them. The location is definitely not the closest to home for me but it is one of my favourite events to attend. It’s such a cute and sweet community. The staff who were assisting were always very friendly and helpful. Couple of moments that I wanted to share with you that really warmed my heart that day.

We ended the event earlier than scheduled time as we ran out of paper. As I was just cleaning up, I overheard a lady speaking to her daughter asking them do they remember taking a photo with me last LNY. I looked up and remembered these three young girls from last year. They were so interested in the art that they stayed around to watch me write and took photos with me. It kind of like I am watching them grow up 🥰.

One of the staff who helped me was there the first year, year of the dragon. We talked about how the line was so crazy that year as everyone came during the last hour of the event and how the character 龍 takes longer to write compared to 馬🤣. I also see a change in her too! She became more outgoing and would help attract the customers towards the activation.

I barely took any photos this year as it was busy right from the start! 🥰
