Yes folks, once again Valentine’s Day is upon us. Or rather, it’s 3 agonizing days away. If you have NOT
yet found that perfect, special gift for your beloved let me suggest one of these beauties.
They are bad-ass, organically inspired pieces with unusual stones, beautiful settings and of course… lovingly made. Contact me for details.
Let me tell you about the stones because well I am a bit of a stone nerd and I love a good stone!
From left to right we have Sonoran Dendritic Rhyolite, centre is Ruby in Ziosite and on the right is a nifty Beige Conchina with a Hessonite Garnet from Quebec on top.
This next pendant is set with Fairy Dust Drusy, containing Pyrite crystals in Quartz. The nifty bullet shaped stone attached to the pendant is faceted Sugilite and very purple. The chain is handmade by yours truly.
And if these don’t tickle your fancy why not give the BEST GIFT EVER and give them a jewelry class at my beautiful studio in Goodwood? One student, all day and you go home with treasure! Make either an adjustable ring or a pendant of your own making. $375 includes all materials and a yummy lunch from Annina’s Bakeshop.
You can purchase my handmade, one-of-a-kind pieces of silver jewelry at the following locations:
Dragonfly Arts on Broadway, 189 Broadway, Orangeville,
dragonflyarts.ca./.
Scugog Art Space, 268 Queen Street, Port Perry,

One of the things I love most about making jewelry is the process of combining various stones for a piece. I may buy stones, fossils, beads, crystals years apart and they may sit in a box for a long time before they get paired. But I like that.
My dear husband, John, would sometimes innocently ask me what I was going to do with a particular stone and I almost never had an answer. It has to marinate.
The first pendant is an example of that with a beautiful Quebec Hessonite Garnet paired with a Conchina. I just bought the garnet and have had the Conchina for a few years. Yet they work really well together. Who knew?
The stone in the other pendant is Ruby in Ziosite and I love the shape.
Watch this space. Much more to come.

What did you do this weekend?
A woman with very good taste, (!) purchased two of my pendants in the September Uxbridge Studio Tour.
As well, she decided to take my day long jewelry course with me today, where she made a stunning, STATEMENT ring to go with her beautiful pendants.
Hats off to you, H.B. you are a natural and we had sooooo much fun.
Check out what she made. Such a great way to spend a beautiful, sunny Autumn day.
Thank you!
If YOU want to spend a day with me making either an adjustable ring or a pendant. Contact me and we
will set up a class at your convenience.

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!
Instead of making a turkey I made a pendant.
I just love this stone. It’s called Sonoran Dendritic Rhyolite.
The overall design has a nice visual flow and the tabs work!
Bonus.

How was YOUR Labour Day weekend?
I moved up here 42 years ago THIS weekend (thank you John) and I am so grateful for all the twists and turns my life has taken as a result of that decision. So many wonderful and supportive friends in the Uxbridge artistic community, a great family and a truly amazing career. I am definitely a better person for having moved to Canada!
I am on fire in terms of jewelry production. This also points to an eminent burnout but THAT is another matter!
This weekend I finished a lovely Goddess pendant all in purples and blue. A handmade silver chain, and a weirdly complicated pendant with laminated carnelian beads and a purple Charoite stone.
Drop by my pop up sale on Saturday, September 13, 1 to 4pm, located at Dragonfly Arts on Broadway in lovely downtown Orangeville. This is a beautifully curated, high end craft store. No end of fun. Come by and say hello.
And of course…….
The Uxbridge Studio Tour. This year marks the 40th Anniversary of the BEST self- guided Studio Tour in Ontario. Visit our website at www.uxbridgestudiotour.com. Plan your trip using the TOUREKA! App.
I am at site #6. I very much look forward to seeing you there.
Over and out.

Would you go out of your way for yummy food or beautiful stones?
I would. And have done so on both accounts!
I sought out the source for some of these stones on a recent vacation
to Vancouver Island.
Here are the results of an insane week of work and focus. Nine pendants produced in seven days.
The stones I used reflect a wide variety of sources. Clockwise from top right, they are Turquoise, Petrified Wood, a Conchina, 2 Agates, Turquoise, another Agate, more Petrified Wood, and finally Azurite Malachite.
Ok now to take a small rest and think about the Uxbridge Studio Tour.
Did you know that this year marks the 40th Anniversary? I am truly honoured to be included.
Mark your calendars for Sept 20 & 21. Make sure you visit Uxbridgestudiotour.com, to get the lowdown on who, where & what. Also download the Toureka! App in order to better navigate between studios.
Finally, make SURE you drop by and see yours truly at Site # 6 with host & artist extraordinaire, Fly Freeman and ceramic artist, Ann Cummings!

Did YOU have a productive week?
I had a wildly productive week despite the heat.
Six different pendants, in a variety of stones and designs.
All have handmade elements, an interesting cut- out on the back and a vintage bead di**le- dangle. Yes that is a real jewelers term, “di**le dangle” is the little item or doohickey you put on the end of a chain to keep things interesting. Honest.
Two of the stones I bought from my new friend on Vancouver Island named . He is a great source for lovely stones if you were interested.
Oh, and some important numbers to remember:
27 days until my Pop Up Sale at Dragonfly Arts on Broadway in Orangeville.
33 days until the 2025 Uxbridge Studio Tour, I am at Site #6.
129 days until Christmas! Just sayin’.
