Hello Everyone!

Do not forget that the tax-filing deadline for most individuals is April 30, 2022!! Since this falls on a Saturday, The CRA will consider your return filed on time in either of the following situations:

1. They receive it on or before May 2, 2022
2. Your return is postmarked on or before May 2, 2022

You will have until June 15, 2022, to file your tax return if you or your spouse or common law-partner are self-employed.

Contact Grants Bookkeeping if you require any assistance in filing your tax returns!

Now that tax filing season has kicked off here are some reminders!

The tax-filing deadline for most Canadians (for the 2021 tax year) is on April 30, 2022. Normally, the general tax filing deadline date is on April 30th each year, but in 2022, this date falls on a Saturday, so there’s an extension until the next business day which is May 2, 2022.

CRA will consider your return to have been filed on time if:

It is received on or before May 2, 2022
Your paper return is postmarked on or before May 2, 2022

For those who are self-employed, or who have a spouse/partner who is self-employed, the deadline extends until June 15, 2022.

Filing your taxes on time is not just about getting your tax refunds on time. A late tax filing can result in monetary penalties and can also delay or affect your government benefits negatively.

Wishing everyone a safe & healthy Halloween 2021!
