In West Point Grey, this 1920s home was transformed through a full renovation, rear addition, and laneway house — designed to honour its original character while creating a more contemporary, light-filled way of living.

The project included a 600 sq ft rear addition, a new upper-floor bedroom, a reimagined interior, and a Vancouver laneway house — all carefully shaped around warmth, natural light, family gathering, and a lifelong love of books.

From the integrated walnut bookshelf wall and reading nook to the expanded kitchen, garden connection, and complementary laneway home, every decision was made with purpose.
This is what thoughtful design-build can do: preserve what matters, improve how a home lives, and create space for the next chapter.

Set on a remarkable site, this custom home began with a clear goal: to create a home worthy of an extraordinary location.

Currently in design development, the project is being carefully shaped around the natural surroundings, transforming a challenging site into a series of light-filled spaces designed for gathering, entertaining, and everyday living.

From soaring vaulted ceilings and expansive glazing to a glass elevator and central courtyard that brings natural light deep into the home, every element has been thoughtfully designed to celebrate the setting rather than compete with it.

Meet Jaycie — Interior Designer at Kerr Design Build
For Jaycie, great design starts with people.

Her design style is all about blending different influences, textures, and materials to create spaces that feel layered, welcoming, and uniquely personal.

Before becoming a designer, Jaycie worked as an actor, where she discovered how colour, space, furniture, and textiles can help tell a story. Today, she brings that same creative perspective into every project, designing homes that reflect each client’s personality and lifestyle.

She’s especially inspired by biophilic design, incorporating natural materials and organic elements that bring warmth, comfort, and a stronger connection to nature.

What she loves most about Kerr Design Build? The collaboration. Working alongside talented designers, builders, and project managers to create thoughtful, beautifully crafted homes for our clients.

The homeowners loved their Burnaby neighbourhood and couldn’t imagine leaving the community they had built their lives in. But as their family grew, they needed more space, better functionality, and a home designed for modern living.
Rather than moving away, they chose to reimagine the property they already loved.
