Luke 8:22-25

Sometimes when we have a busy schedule or occupied with different tasks on daily, weekly and monthly basis, we are likely to put some non urgent on the shelves until we have time to attend to them.

I waited for over a year before I decided to organize a small place where I kept some of my children's clothes and shoes, and thought of what to do with them. These were the clothes they have outgrown. I was faced with the decision of to either garbage or donate them.

There was a swimming life jacket that belongs to my second daughter. The Jacket is small for her now as she had outgrown it. I bought it when she started swimming lessons at the community swimming pool which was later closed permanently due to some city concerns and they promised to build another one of which construction has commenced.

Immediately I picked the life jacket and considering either to trash or look for a way to donate it.

I heard the voice, "what is in your hand? I answered like everyone knows this is a life Jacket. The next question shook me and I heard, "what does it do?", I started to explain that with this, whoever wears it won't sink in the pool or any water.

HE told me I was wrong because it is only useful when using in a small swimming pool and the life jacket is not defective.

In Luke 8:22-25 what saved the disciples was presence of Jesus in their boat and they called on him.

The real storm doesn’t care about a life jacket. There was a saying from south west Nigeria that a young lad said he had mark on his missing calabash; the elder will reply that it when you see the calabash that you can check the mark.

Storm of life is not like a swimming pool. It won't give you notice when it will spring off and can't be forecasted like a snow storm.

There are some things we call "life jackets" that you would discover they are hoax when the real storms comes. Likewise there are some storms that are not meant to destroy us but to make us better. “On the other side of a storm is the strength that comes from navigating through it. Raise your sail and begin.” John C. Maxwell.

I have seen many people who put their trust in man, money, position, contacts, and others believing they are too intelligent to be bothered.

Accept Jesus today tomorrow might be too late. He will help you.

When GOD Whispers Part 1
Deut 29:29

I wondered the reason God have to whisper when He owns everything and nothing can challenge Him.

People only whisper when they either afraid of the principal, 2 Samuel 12:19 “But when David saw that his servants whispered, David perceived that the child was dead: therefore David said unto his servants, Is the child dead? And they said, He is dead” or gossip, Psalm 41:7 ”All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt”

I learnt from Holy Spirit that after God speak with you in dreams, word of knowledge and other ways he chooses. He only whispers to those who have been hearing from Him before. It is a prove of intimacy and love between you and your God through the Holy Spirit.

Sometimes when God whispers, if you are not careful, you may think you are talking to yourself or just a thought that just springs up. He whispers to those He has intimacy relationship with.

When I was a teenager, a woman offered my mum food when we visited her at home. My mum said she was full and won’t able to eat. Our host turned to me and asked “ Gbenga would you like to eat some food that I have prepared since your mum is not eating”, I looked at my mum, she squeezed her face with unfriendly smile. I know I dare not eat at that house. I quickly answered her “I’m good ma”. I knew the squeezed and unfriendly face of my mother was a message and a whisper in sign language of disapproval of eating there. She doesn’t pass message to me this way when I was a toddler. She started that when she knew I was matured enough to decode the message.

God also whisper to His children when He knows that they are mature enough to get the message.

Whispering is generally used quietly, to limit the hearing of speech to those closest to the speaker; it is used to convey secret information without being overheard.

"When God whispers, you have to listen, keep your peace and act on it. If it is not clear to you, ask Him and He will break it down for you"
