🧬 Many Labradors carry a gene variation that affects appetite. A gene called POMC helps regulate hunger and feelings of fullness. Some Labs have a variation in this gene that makes them more likely to feel hungry and less satisfied after eating.

In simple terms…

Your Lab may genuinely feel like there’s ALWAYS room for one more treat! 😂

This trait may have been especially useful in working Labradors, who were bred to be eager, hardworking retrieving dogs.

But today, it means we need to be mindful of portions, treats and healthy body weight—because a Lab will happily convince you that they are absolutely STARVING. 🥺😂

They’re All Homebound! 🐾❤️

We have some very exciting news… all 10 of our precious puppies now have their forever families! 🥹🏡🐾

Our hearts are so full knowing that each of these little babies has a loving home waiting for them. ❤️

But don’t worry… we’re not saying goodbye just yet! 🥰

Some of our babies will be heading home in about a week, while others get to stay with us for another few weeks. That means we still have lots of time for cuddles, adventures, growing, learning, playing and making memories together. 🐶💕

We’ll be soaking up every single moment with this beautiful litter while watching them blossom into the wonderful Labradors they were meant to be.

From tiny newborns with Georgia to these happy, playful little pups… what an incredible journey it has been. 🥹🐾

It feels like just yesterday these little ones fit in the palm of our hands. Now look at them! 😍

At 6 weeks, our Bright Ridge babies are busy discovering the world—running, wrestling, playing, exploring, learning and, of course, finding plenty of time for naps! 😂

Their little personalities are shining through more every day, and we’re loving watching each one become their own special little Labrador. ❤️

They’re experiencing new sights, sounds, surfaces, people and adventures as we gently prepare them for the big world ahead.

Puppy Prep Tip #5 🐾 | Plan for a Quiet First Week

Bringing home a puppy is exciting—but their first few days should be all about rest, routine, and feeling safe. ❤️

🐾 Keep visitors to a minimum
🐾 Give your puppy a quiet place to nap
🐾 Start a simple feeding and potty routine
🐾 Avoid overwhelming them with too many new experiences at once
🐾 Let them sleep—puppies need LOTS of it!
🐾 Give everyone in the family a chance to bond, but keep interactions gentle and positive

Remember: your puppy has just left their mama and littermates and is entering a whole new world. 🌎🐶
