Six String Nation
A guitar literally made of stories using pieces of history and heritage from every part of Canada.
It's story is vividly told by creator Jowi Taylor and it comes to life in the hands of musicians of every genre and background - each adding layers of story

“The song of Canada is constantly being written, telling our stories from coast to coast to coast. This vast and unique land is built on diversity and the coming together of many cultures. It’s what makes The Six String Nation Guitar not only a true Canadian treasure, but a uniquely living artifact and a perfect vehicle to help tell our stories and accompany our songs - built from a collection of artifacts as unique and varied as the country that gave the guitar, Voyageur, birth.”
Steve Kane’s words say it all - and you can add your own lyrics to the song of Canada THIS Friday, May 29 at Small World Music. Experience what it means to be Canadian with fellow music lovers and industry leaders like Steve. Tickets are still available at the link in our bio - act now!

The Hidden Cameras show at Longboat Hall was full of blasts from the past for me - and yet nothing nostalgic about it. Read more on my latest Substack:

Thoughts are with our friends on PEI these days as they come to grips with a 100% mortality rate in their oyster beds following a double-whammy infection of fatal oyster diseases MRX and Derma. No danger to humans but devastating to oysters and the communities who depend on them.

In the world of figure skating, there was "before Toller Cranston" and after. He changed the expression and perception and rules of the sport - all while he continued to make art. And he made art long after his skating days were over.
Thank you to Phillippa Baran Cranston for contributing two pieces belonging to Toller and artist Holly Boileau for so lovingly crafting them into the latest inclusion into the case.

I was just about to post the Materials Card for the latest addition to the case and realized that - while I did post about the addition of material from the late indigenous dance icon René Highway, I didn't post the card that gets integrated into the presentation and distributed to teachers. So here it is. Sorry for the delay and stand by for the new one!
