A simple trick I wish I learned sooner 🎻
Rest the scroll against a wall and let the wall hold the violin. It’s a simple way to check whether your left shoulder and hand are carrying unnecessary tension.

Many people don’t realize how much tension they’re carrying until they take the instrument out of the equation for a moment.

Try it for 30 seconds and notice what it feels like.

good shifting starts before the finger even moves 🎻

a lot of tension and inconsistent intonation comes from trying to shift with just the hand or fingers alone

instead, think about moving the entire arm together as one connected motion
the finger simply arrives with the arm, not after it

once everything moves together, shifting starts to feel smoother, lighter, and way more controlled ✨
