Ontario Racing (OR) is a horse racing industry association, which was established to assume many of the functions of the Ontario Horse Racing division of the former Ontario Racing Commission. Ontario Racing is responsible for directing breed improvement programs, setting an annual program of races and purses, attracting new horse owners, building a fan base and connecting the industry with government and the general public.

Some positive sale news from our Ontario-breds.
Nine Ontario-bred 2-year-olds sold for $852,000 combined at OBS - Ocala Breeders' Sales June auction. The group averaged $94,666, nearly double the record sale average. A Medaglia d’Oro c**t out of Season Ticket (shown, OBS sale photo), bred by Godolphin and John Ropes of Ontario, led the ON-breds with a sale price of $400,000.

Clint Hodgins, born on June 18, 1907 in Clandeboye, ON, was one of the most successful trainer/drivers of the first half of the 20th century. In 1977, Hodgins was inducted into the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2026.

Handicapper Ryan Clements of Catch Driver game fame, has already cashed $1,000 in the inaugural Bet Ontario Handicapping Contest by winning the first two of the six legs.

Driver Trevor Ritchie, born on June 14, 1955 in London, ON, drove Yankee Paco to victory in the 2000 Hambletonian. Ritchie earned more than $70 million in a career that included seven Breeders Crown wins and victories in the North America Cup, Meadowlands Pace and many more of the sport’s biggest races. In 2019, Ritchie was inducted into the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2026.

Congratulations to Ontario-bred filly Luv Your Neighbor, winner of the $300,000 Grade 3 Delaware Oaks at Delaware Park today for breeders Anderson Farms and 552727 Ontario Inc., owner Lael Stables, trainer Michael Stidham and jockey Luis Saez. Luv Your Neighbor sold for $350,000 at the 2024 Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
