Conscious Minds Co-op is seeking one Logistic Coordinator for our annual youth-led summer camp! Since 2014, we have operated a volunteer-driven, community-centered camp that creates accessible outdoor and educational experiences for participants of all socioeconomic backgrounds and identities. Our program is grounded in shared responsibility, environmental stewardship, and collective care, ensuring that all campers can connect with nature and one another in meaningful ways. The Logistics Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of camp infrastructure, safety systems, and day-to-day logistics. We are seeking someone who is community-focused, highly organized, and comfortable coordinating complex operations for large groups. We run with the belief that all hands are on deck, and encourage our campers to immerse themselves in stewarding the land. Being aware of the land we’re on, our place in the ecosystem, and understanding our relationship to the land and each other is of utmost importance. This role involves working closely with coordinating organizers, camp leaders, and external partners to maintain safe, functional camp spaces while supporting participants in developing a respectful relationship with the land. A Land and Logistics Coordinator who can work with diverse groups, foster strong relationships with staff and campers, and ensure smooth camper experience is ideal. The ideal candidate is skilled at communication, problem-solving, and teamwork, and can foster strong collaborative relationships while ensuring a seamless and positive camp experience for everyone involved.

Conscious Minds Co-op is seeking two Cooks for our annual youth-led summer camp! We have had an established, youth led summer camp since 2014– primarily volunteer based and community focused. We strive to provide the summer camp and out of city camping experiences for all participants regardless of their socioeconomic status and identity, allowing all to immerse themselves in nature and access green spaces. We are looking for two food coordinators who are community focused and have the ability to work with and for large groups. We run with the belief that all hands are on deck, and encourage our campers to immerse themselves in preparing their food. Being aware of what we consume, how it reaches our plate, and being physically connected to the process of eating is of utmost importance. A Food Coordinator who can work with rotating small groups of participants to instruct them in preparing and serving their food is optimal. Meals that prioritize holistic ingredient sourcing, culturally diverse recipes, and are as environmentally sustainable as possible are our main goal.

Conscious Minds Co-op is seeking six Camp Leaders for our annual youth-led summer camp! Since 2014, we have run a community-focused, volunteer-driven camp that centers young people and creates meaningful opportunities for learning, connection, and leadership. Our Camp Leaders will guide groups of participants aged 15–30 through an immersive summer experience that includes collaborative living and a variety of interactive workshops grounded in our five pillars: holistic living, education, climate change awareness, human rights advocacy, and decolonization. We are looking for leaders who are community-oriented and confident facilitating group experiences. Our camp operates on the principle that everyone contributes, and Camp Leaders play a key role in encouraging participants to actively engage in all aspects of camp life. This includes supporting rotating small groups in workshops, discussions, and shared responsibilities that foster teamwork, critical thinking, and personal growth. Ideal candidates are passionate about youth empowerment, social and environmental justice, and experiential education. They are able to create inclusive, supportive spaces where participants feel encouraged to learn, collaborate, and reflect. Time: 2-5pm EDT

Location: Tubman Resource Room, 314 York Lanes (Hybrid)

In-person registration:

Zoom registration:
https://yorku.zoom.us/meeting/register/9rRit592RFeLaM6ysgX0xQ

This session focuses on Zakirah Allain’s graduate Major Research Project and aims to implement some of the artistic methods and PAR principles she expects to employ in her fieldwork. Her research focuses on youth migration from Saint Lucia for the purpose of higher education, exploring the causes/motivations for departure, local conditions, and dreams of students pursuing a “better life” when deciding between leaving and staying for their higher education.

Within the session, participants take Robin Kelley’s concept of freedom dreams from noun to verb, exploring how we can dream of our Utopian Caribbean education systems and bring those unbounded dreams to reality. Through this, Zakirah leads people through a documentary viewing and artistic exercise to explore their thoughts, feelings, and solutions to ideas and issues presented in the documentary. From the session, participants are asked to create whatever their heart calls them to– visual art, comics, poems, lists of demands, scrap booking, etc.

Attendees (online attendees included) are welcome to bring any scrapbook/ personal supplies they may like to use (a notebook to take notes during the documentary, a friend).

There’s something special about a campfire—the way its glow pulls us closer, the way its warmth invites honesty, laughter, and reflection. Under the open sky, time slows down, and conversations feel deeper. Stories are shared, songs are sung, and bonds are strengthened in the flickering light. These moments remind us that connection isn’t just about words—it’s about presence, about feeling seen, heard, and part of something bigger. This is the heart of camp. ✨🔥
