Still a couple of days left to see ‘where I like to be’ Westland Gallery . It’s a 3 person show with Tracy Bultje Artist and Julia Ismambetova .
Here is ‘electric glade 8’ photographed in the studio and in the gallery. It’s always amazing to me how art ant colour can transform a space .

Up until June 20th Westland Gallery . ‘Where I like to be’
These 2 pieces are part of an exploration of time . There was a fog bank rolling through the farm I do yoga at. I’m capturing the banks of moisture in the air and the fog casting a kind of mystery over the ground.
Structural incandescence 9 and 11 are each 30x30”

Another one of the pieces included in the show . From the heart of the forest.
Can you feel the chill from the rocks and the dense canopy?
I was chatting with a friend yesterday about how so much of our northern fires have a similar feel .

A commission. 48x72” oil on canvas next to the study 6x12”
I went to the hill top in question. Saw the lay of the land , took some photos. Had the client take some photos. Worked up a bunch of sketches and studies. (You can see them a little bit earlier on my feed) the client winnowed down to choices to one . That’s the small one beside the larger piece.
The second pic is the study. Can’t wait to show the client . The hilltop is such a great place to experience all the elements that affect our weather. It was a fun challenge.

These pieces were exhibited .art.gallery as part of ‘ Grey Area’ a show of contemporary landscape generated from Grey and Bruce counties.

The still life pieces I create are an amalgamation of ideas. An idea germinates in a similar fashion as a plant germinates. Then I take it away from its natural environment, place it under light in my studio and paint it where it becomes something new . The shadows often become A primary focus.
Elements change. The setting, home or studio. The garden, what’s thriving , what colour is primary . (last year everything was yellow) the problems remain the same. Capturing the piece before everything changes.
Here we have ‘animation 11’ - 28x32” currently up as part of their ‘perfect petals’ show.
