Electrical Wiring Upgrades to Consider During a Home Renovation

Some electrical wiring problems are not unsafe, but they can be bothersome, making them the perfect candidates for extra projects during a home renovation.

Whether your electrical wiring is really old or it just got installed within the last decade, it can be dated and ready for some upgrades if it’s causing problems.

Because much of your electrical system is concealed behind the walls, it can be easy to overlook when planning a remodel. Consider home electrical wiring upgrades along with all the other items on your home renovation list. When completing a home renovation that involves opening walls and ceilings for other reasons, you have the perfect opportunity to make electrical upgrades. Ensure you plan for both current needs and what you might need in the future.

Work with your electrician when planning your home renovation job to include the electrical work that you may need or want.

- Too Few Outlets
- No GFCIs Installed
- Plugs Fall Out of Outlets
- Power Upgrade Needed
- Electrical Wiring
- Use open walls during the renovation to route wiring to other normally hard to wire places in your home

Have your house inspected by a Pro Electrician

Buying a house?
Selling a house?
Buying an investment property?
Want to make sure your family is safe?

Home inspections are great, but home inspectors are not electricians. We often get called to correct problems after closing that a general home inspector didn't catch.

Yes, they can cost a lot of money to fix. Would they have caught it before closing, the owners would have been able to ask for a discount or have the seller correct the issue at their expense.

We cannot see behind walls either, but from experience, many times even after a quick look, we can tell that there are possible issues hiding behind walls.

We can tell just by the way the wires, boxes, panel, the receptacles are installed if the house or part of the house was wired by a professional.

We know what to look at and where to search for clues.

Of course, we use testing equipment and metering tools as well to make sure everything is like it is supposed to be.

Smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, sump pump outlets, GFCI protected and tamper-proof outlets are all code today and they all have their purpose protecting you and your family.

The electrical system especially today with all the sensitive and expensive electronics, we plug into it and run 24/7 is very important to have in great working order.

Call us or schedule an inspection with one of our experienced electricians before you make an expensive decision.
