Using the Chronos 1.4 high speed camera with Helios lights. If your weld starts sound like popcorn… this is why 🍿🔥

Common MIG issue when learning:

Wire feed too high for your voltage = wire stubbing into the puddle instead of melting clean.

Result: spatter + ugly starts

Fix:
Turn your voltage up until the arc smooths out.

Small change. Big difference.

Have you seen this before?

7/8” MULTI-PASS FILLET WELD 🔥

This one’s all about control and consistency.

Running a multi-pass fillet weld at 7/8” size, working from the bottom up and stacking each pass with intention.
If you rush the bottom, the whole weld suffers. Take your time, let each pass support the next, and carry that puddle smoothly right around the edges.

Don’t Weld Without This PPE

This is the minimum PPE every welder should have on before striking an arc.

No matter your experience level:
Beanie/cap
Safety glasses

5G Pipe Weld – 3” Carbon Steel (6010 / 7018)

Running a 3” Schedule 40 pipe in the 5G position.

Started with a 6010 root to keyhole and tie in properly, then stacked 7018 for the fill and cap.

This is the kind of weld that separates beginners from pipe welders.

Let me know—would you run this uphill or downhill?

If you’ve spent any time welding, you’ve probably done every single one of these 😅

It’s all part of the learning curve—and every welder has been there.

The struggle is real 🔥

One small mistake can fail your entire weld test.

If you leave a gap, slag gets trapped underneath the plate — and it WILL show up in your bend test.

This is one of the most common issues I see with students.

FLUXCORE -Push or Pull is the question of the day. Is this just preference or does it actually make a difference. Some say pulling will give more pe*******on and with a slag producing weld you should probably drag.
