6.49 blanket + 1.62 seconds = 8.11 pounds
That went well !!After shearing we combined the little boys with the big boys. After shearing is the perfect time to do this as no one is sure who is who. It’s been a few days and all seems well 😎

Shearing 2025 done!
Shearing is when we harvest the fleece the alpacas have grown. They need to be sheared each spring, for their health, otherwise it would be like you wearing all of your winter clothing while outside in the summer. 🥵
What is the first thing they do when sheared? Roll in the dirt and have a nice “dust bath” 🛁
Thank you to our amazing shear team friends and shearer team. We couldn’t do it without you, especially since Farmer Bob is on crutches! 🩼🩼

The Beginning ...
We had been looking to move out of the city and found the perfect property just 40 minutes outside of Toronto in Clarington. My husband wanted the property and I wanted alpacas so we took the plunge. Like any dream, it takes time and determination to make it happen. We had been living here for over a year and were slowly making progress but life kept happening. Finally in January of 2017 we decided to make it happen. We put a plan in place and we were off, purchasing our first two alpacas, pregnant females in March. They were delivered to us on Friday April 13, the weekend of a big ice storm. The perfect weekend for newbies to start right?
