Vertigo can feel unsettling, especially when you do not know why it is happening.
The Dix-Hallpike maneuver is one test physiotherapists use to help check for BPPV, which stands for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo.
BPPV is a common type of vertigo linked to the inner ear. It can happen when tiny crystals move out of place and affect your balance system.
This test helps your physiotherapist look for signs that BPPV is causing your vertigo. If the signs point to BPPV, vestibular rehab can include specific treatment movements to help. If they do not, your physiotherapist can look at other possible causes of dizziness or vertigo.
If you’re experiencing vertigo, dizziness, or feeling off-balance, you may benefit from a vestibular rehab assessment. 👉 Find a Lifemark clinic near you: https://tinyurl.com/3ze2tp8c

Dealing with deep glute or piriformis pain?
This type of pain can be linked to irritation of the piriformis muscle or surrounding structures like the sciatic nerve.
Try these 3 movements:
1️⃣ Glute/piriformis self-myofascial release w/ a tennis/lacrosse ball
2️⃣ Seated sciatic nerve glide
3️⃣ Banded hip external rotation
This combination might help reduce tension and build strength for longer-term relief. Common in runners, lifters, and desk-based workers across Canada.

How many physiotherapy techniques can you name in 15 seconds? 👀
We asked two of our physiotherapists at Lifemark Physiotherapy (Mohawk & Upper Wellington) in Hamilton, ON, and their answers highlight just how much goes into personalized care.
Watch and see how many you recognize!
Squat down. Keep your heels planted. Touch your elbows to the floor. Sounds simple, right? 😅
A few brave team members took on the elbow squat challenge, a fun mobility check for hips, ankles, balance, squat depth, and movement control.
Some nailed it.
Some negotiated with gravity.
Could you do it? 👀
⚠️ This challenge is for general education and entertainment only. If you are injured, experiencing pain, or unsure whether this movement is appropriate for you, please check with a physiotherapist for personalized guidance.
Another unforgettable weekend at the Blue Nose Marathon in Halifax, Nova Scotia 💙
From the water stations and cheering crowds to finish line celebrations and the post-race massage recovery tent, it was amazing to see the community come together once again for one of Nova Scotia’s biggest events.
The Lifemark team was proud to be part of the action all weekend long, supporting runners, volunteers, and spectators along the way. Huge congratulations to everyone who participated and crossed that finish line. Rain, wind, sunshine and sore legs. Nova Scotia kept us guessing all weekend 👏
Halifax really showed up for Blue Nose this year.
