Project Mighty Hearts
Project Mighty Hearts' mission is to provide free, compassionate and authentic photography sessions But that's exactly what I did.
The last thing a family rushing off to the children's hospital is thinking about is grabbing a camera to take photos. On March 7th, 2018 I frantically packed to get to SickKids Hospital in Toronto after a cardiologist called to say I needed to get my son there within the hour. After six months of being part of the heart warrior family, I created Project Mighty Hearts to document the journey of oth

📣 Project Mighty Hearts is moving 📣
I’ve been thinking a lot about how I want to exist. Where I want it to exist.
To be transparent, in its infancy I had dreams of it growing into a movement or an organization where many photographers would join and photograph many families across Canada or further.
But the more families I met and the more Ambassador Photographers I brought on to do some sessions, the more I realized that that dream wasn’t in full alignment with what Project Mighty Hearts really means for me - and for the families I photograph.
I’ve come to realize that the work I do with Project Mighty Hearts is my Sacred work.
That the stories of these families are medicine for humanity and for me.
The moments these families experience are what I was born to witness, to record, and to tell the only way I know how - through photography.
Understanding that this philosophy and approach to photography is something I bring to all of my photo sessions, I hope you will join me in the transition of Project Mighty Hearts as a standalone entity to www.jenallison.ca and on social media as part of my personal work.

I'm excited to share that Dr. Tanya Cotler a Child & Adult Psychologist will be joining us this Thursday on our Virtual Support for Medical Families call.
Dr. Cotler will discuss a variety of coping strategies through a mindful parenting lens. She will help us learn to be in the present moment, have compassion for self and our children, understand the teachings of impermanence, how to practice gratitude and finding comfort in interconnection.
Personally, there are days I struggle with this new "normal" and when I can slow down and implement some of the points Dr. Cotler will discuss, life feels a bit more manageable. I hope that you will find the same after this call.
Looking forward to seeing you on the call.
Feel free to message me here or email [email protected] if you have any questions.

******************************************
I felt called to create a safe space or medical families to come together, connect and share what they are experience during this Covid-19 pandemic.
Having to take my son to emergency less than a week ago brought up many fears and anxieties - some I know other medical families are also experiencing.
I wanted to help those families come together to talk and share productive strategies that are helping them through this time.
We will host two types of gatherings all on Zoom calls
One call on Tuesdays and Thursdays for JUST medical families.
Additional calls will be hosted with professionals ranging from nutritionists, occupational therapists, psychologists and more to help answer questions, provide insights, strategies and productive tips to help medical families get through this difficult and unknown time.
They say it takes a village, and no one knows this more than medical parents. Sometimes we just need each other and sometimes we need other forms of support.
I ask that you share this to your community and to any medical family you know.
Our next medical family call is Tuesday March 24 at 12:30m pm EST.
See you there!
