Fred Espenak. The Master Has Passed.

Fred was my eclipse guru. From Antarctica to Libya and back, Fred showed me that I wasn’t alone in my eclipse obsession - that there were people just like me who would do anything to stand in the shadow of the Moon. His encouragement and generosity defined the eclipse community for me beginning in the 1990s. Through Fred, I came to realize that if there were people this cool, this devoted and this passionate about eclipse chasing, then it must be ok to give myself permission to alter the course of my life and follow in his footsteps. Indeed, Mr. Eclipse was the inspiration for eclipseguy! You have to love and honour the people in your life who are this influential. Fred, I will look for you in the shadow and know you’ll be there.
