Natureâs Rare Gift - A small wonder, A big inspiration - I came across this red trillium on the forest floor, and it stopped me in my tracks. Trilliums are usually white, so finding one in deep crimson felt like a little gift from nature. While trilliums are often white, this crimson bloom speaks of the power of standing apart.
Thereâs something about it that speaks to creativityâstanding out, and letting your unique vision shine. Much like the creative journey, this flower reminds us that authenticity flourishes when we embrace what makes us unique.
Ever had a moment in nature that sparked your creativity? Iâd love to hear about it!

I rescued this thrift store painting, and gave it a whole new story by adding one of my images. When I first started yoga to help with back pain, I had no idea it was more than just about stretching. Years later, a senior teacher dropped some wisdom: âThe true goal of Yoga is to quiet the monkey mind.â Monkey mind refers to the restless, unsettled nature of your thoughts, constantly, jumping from one thing to another, like mischievous monkeys swinging from branch to branch. Yoga sutra 1.2 states Yoga citta vritti nirodhah - which can be translated to yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind. In Africa, the most terrorizing animals I encountered werenât the lions or elephants â it was the monkeys. They would stare you down outside your tent, jump on the roof in the middle of the night, and even break into tents, causing chaos just like the thoughts we struggle to quiet. This piece is my playful take on the ongoing challenge of finding inner stillness one breath at a time. The show Fix Up Look Sharp opens Thursday, March 6 from 6-10pm at Northern Contemporary and goes until Mach 18

Thereâs something magical about the presence of a newborn - so small, so new, cradled in the strength of their fatherâs hands. This was one of the first portraits I ever created using just a DSLR, a white sheet, and window light. I had no fancy gear, just a deep desire to capture the moment. The softness of the natural light wrapped around him, adding warmth and depth to the image. By the time, his baby brother arrived a few years later, (image2) I had refined my technique- learning how to shape window light for editorial style portraits. Now, I teach this very process in portraits made possible. In the first class, I cover how to create a stunning reference image using window light- no expensive equipment needed, just your vision and a willingness to experiment. Enrol now to learn the art of timeless portrait photography!
