Congratulations to Joe Cali and the team at Gryphon Audio Designs Los Angeles on the opening of their stunning, mono-brand Gryphon showroom at the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles—an environment where shared commercial power can make true reference performance nearly impossible.

This 3,200-sq-ft space features three dedicated two-channel listening rooms designed in a “good / better / best” progression—built to let designers, architects, luxury homeowners, and music lovers experience just how immersive two-channel can be when every variable is controlled.

From day one, the project treated power as infrastructure—not an accessory—anchoring the entire showroom to a Torus Power All-in-One panel with a dedicated subpanel (20 breakers) feeding isolated 20-amp circuits throughout, supported by toroidal isolation, surge suppression, and a separately derived ground. The goal: eliminate noise at the source and keep performance consistent across every room.

Powering perfection starts long before the first frame hits the screen.

In this Residential Systems article, Lifestyle Solutions and Custom Works AV engineered a dedicated private cinema in Northern Virginia — stadium-style seating for 14, a 150-inch Seymour acoustically transparent screen, and a JVC DLA-NZ900 laser projector — with performance and simplicity as the non-negotiables.

To make sure every component could deliver at its best (and stay protected for the long haul), the team specified a Torus Power RM20 toroidal isolation transformer to provide clean, stable power for the rack — and even routed the projector outlet back to the rack so it could benefit from the same filtration and protection.

Big cinema impact in a small footprint — hats off to Alan Hutchings and the team at Spectrum AV in Mill Valley, CA, for proving what’s possible when performance and interior design have to coexist.

For their new showroom, Spectrum engineered an elegant solution: a custom marble-top coffee table that conceals a Barco Residential Heimdall+ Cinemascope projector, complete with active ventilation for heat management.

The result is the kind of “technology disappears, experience takes over” moment clients remember: one button, the screen drops, the room transforms.

The full system is a showcase of thoughtful integration and commissioning—Seymour-Screen Excellence 160” 2.37:1 motorized screen, Kaleidescape Strato V + Apple TV, Lyngdorf Audio MP 60 2.1 with RoomPerfect calibration support, premium amplification and speaker design, and parallel control via Control4 + Savant Systems. And because performance starts at the foundation, a Torus Power RM 60 isolation power transformer helps keep the entire theater ecosystem protected and performing consistently.

For a Dallas, Texas homeowner with a lifelong passion for music and movies, building a dedicated private cinema was more than a dream — it was a 30-year aspiration finally realized. Inside a sprawling 15,000-square-foot residence designed as a place to share moments with family and friends, this cinema would become the crown jewel: a place to escape, immerse, and be inspired.

Unlike most projects that adapt existing spaces, this homeowner wanted a true purpose-built cinema — designed from the ground up to exceed even commercial theater performance. The Van Cave Theater itself spans approximately 1,000 square feet and sits below ground level. That, in and of itself, was a challenge to overcome but that allowed the teams involved to achieve the best possible acoustic isolation and structural stability.
