The ugly truth about pot lights.
Pot lights are a great feature to boost the attractiveness of your home. What‘s not so attractive is the installation process. The modern slim pot lights (a.k.a. recessed/down light) are a blessing in disguise for the installer because they can go anywhere due to the fact that they are the same thickness as the most commonly used ½ inch drywall. Where it get tricky is in the attic/untreated space. By code (building and electrical) you must maintain a vapour barrier to prevent thermal bridging. That’s the part rarely seen by homeowner. Be sure to check with your electrician to see if they’ve correctly installed a vapour barrier.

Fuses vs Breakers
Did you know that upgrading from fuses to circuit breakers can offer numerous benefits for your home's electrical system? Here are just a few of the advantages:
Safety: Circuit breakers trip and shut off power when there is an electrical overload, reducing the risk of fire.
Convenience: Resetting a breaker is as easy as flipping a switch, no need to replace a fuse.
Improved Electrical Capacity: Breakers can handle higher electrical loads, allowing for more electrical devices to be used at once.
Improved Energy Efficiency: Breakers don't degrade over time like fuses, ensuring your home's electrical system runs at peak efficiency.
Consider making the switch to circuit breakers for a safer and more efficient home electrical system.

Aluminum wires in residential homes
Myth: Aluminum wiring in residential homes is a fire hazard and should be replaced.
Fact: While it is true that aluminum wiring can expand and contract more than copper wire, causing connections to loosen over time, this does not necessarily make it a fire hazard. Properly installed and maintained aluminum wiring is safe to use in residential homes. However, if you suspect a problem with your wiring, it is best to have it inspected by a licensed electrician.
In conclusion, don't believe everything you hear, do your research and seek expert advice if needed. The safety of your home is important and it is always better to be informed.
