From Beads to Canvas 🎨🪶

I’ve been having fun trying out new educational activities to share Indigenous knowledge, and today’s idea was From Beads to Canvas.

I shared some of my beaded canvas pieces and the teachings and meanings behind them to inspire the artists who stopped by. It was so nice to see everyone’s creativity come to life, each person creating something unique.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by, especially ’ Kindergarten class, .ww81 , and so many familiar and new faces. I always leave these events feeling grateful for the conversations, connections, and opportunities to share culture through art. ❤️

Today we hosted our very first Sweetgrass-Inspired Braiding Station 🌱

It was such a beautiful experience being able to share teachings about Indigenous sacred medicines, their meaning, and their importance. With every braid, we reflected on mind, body, and spirit, and with every keychain made, teachings were shared. It was really meaningful to see so many people approach the space with care, respect, and openness to learning about Indigenous cultures and beliefs.

A big thank you as well to ❤️ Through this opportunity, I was able to hire an Indigenous youth to help support and lead alongside me, which made this experience even more special.

Great work to everyone who created a keychain today. Thank you for showing up with open minds, good hearts, and respect for the teachings. Hiy hiy ✨
