Why critical illness insurance is required?
Advances in medicare are letting people survive more critical illnesses. At the same time, our lifestyles are deteriorating and more lifestyle plus stress-related diseases like diabetes and hypertension, which lead to many other illnesses, are happening with younger age groups. Cancer drugs can cost anywhere from $20,000 to $100,000 even after all surgeries and treatments are covered under GHIP. No group plans are going to cover prescription drugs beyond $10K (if at all that much too given how employers are trimming benefits in recent decades).
Also, what happens to income if we need to recover from any one of the 25 critical illnesses? Families have had to break their bank/ RRSP and other savings to pay for costs and often get into debt just because no1 explained why CI insurance is almost as important as life insurance in today's times.
