I am so happy and grateful to be featured today as a business in the Toronto Guardian. Thank you so much Toronto Guardian. This is the best and most heart warming acknowledgment of the work that has been poured into this company since it’s inception.

This is all the more amazing because three years ago I was faced with a choice, either give up or stand up and reclaim my life. I not only chose to reclaim it, I decided to live my best life. I made a list with three steps or goals that would transform my life.

Last year I embarked on realizing the last goal on that list, to establish a thriving food business that makes great food products with quality, natural ingredients. It was my dream to take a product with rich Afro inspired roots and successfully mainstream it in a bid to share the delicious foods that I grew up with and also serve as a means of equalizing the playing field for women and Afro inspired cuisine.

I want to use this opportunity to thank God who is my Light, my guide and my champion defender. Whenever things became overwhelming, God sent a miracle to protect me and give me hope to carry on. I would also like to acknowledge all those that helped me get this far. My brothers and sister, Jerome, Olisa and Chinny, my dear Mom and my Dad. I want to send a special shout-out to my sons who have been so supportive, always been the best children and have encouraged me along the way, I could not have done this without you.

I want to encourage anyone especially women who may be stuck in an abusive or unsafe relationship. You don’t need to be a statistic. There is help out there, if I could rebuild my life, you can too. I am happy to share my story with you so you can be encouraged and rise again to find your way to the beautiful life that is possible for you.

The Cronut
A hybrid between a croissant and a doughnut the Cronut is an invention of Dominique Ansel and is one of NYC’s legendary deserts

Made out of laminated dough, the Cronut has layers of buttery pastry filled with vanilla cream and traditionally has a lemon glaze.

It’s simply divine.
With my first bite, I understand why it’s such a favourite. The lemon provides a sweet balance to the fried dough and the crisp top and edges makes this such a satisfying bite.
