For some, it’s a day of flowers, laughter, and celebration. For others, it’s a day wrapped in grief, longing, or complicated feelings.
You might be celebrating your mom, missing her deeply, grieving her absence, or navigating a relationship that was never what you needed it to be.
You might be a mother yourself—holding your child close, remembering one you’ve lost, or carrying the weight of not being the mother you hoped to be.
This day holds so many truths.
Joy. Pain. Gratitude. Ache.
And for many—it’s all of it, at once.
If today feels tender, you’re not alone. However this day lands in your heart, may you meet yourself with gentleness. May we all hold space for the many versions of motherhood, and for the people who carry love in complex and quiet ways.

When we’re triggered, there’s usually something in the present moment that is reminding us of painful past events. As a result, we often respond disproportionately to the to the current situation.
When we notice we are overreacting to a situation, the best thing we can do is utilizing grounding strategies, connect back into our bodies and bring ourselves back to the present.
It’s only once we establish safety back into the present moment can we begin to effectively handle the situation.

You deserved to have emotions as a little kid. You deserved to have the innate experience of feeling without being shamed, criticized or ridiculed. That little boy needed support and encouragement. If you find that you tend to avoid your feelings or emotional experiences, it’s likely that little boy is still struggling in there. He needs you to flip the script.
