At the Portugal Pavilion we are pleased to welcome Michelle Viana to our Pavilion this year. Below is an intro to Michelle, you will have to come to our pavilion to see her beautiful masks, sweatshirts, wallets, purses, key chains and more. Don't forget the Festival runs May 28 & 29. MICHELLE VIANA Michelle Viana was born and raised in Toronto, she has been involved in folklore dancing since was 5 years old. She has always been very passionate about our Portuguese heritage and culture. Especially her northern roots and traditions from Viana do Castelo. Sewing has been one of her hobbies since high school, she started her business in April 2020 at the start of the pandemic. Her objective was to make stylish and safe masks so that people would feel comfortable wearing. She started importing fabrics from Portugal, including the original “Lenços de Viana” that many dancers wear with their folklore costumes. The Viana Protege collection masks were extremely popular and successful. In 2021, she expanded the Viana collection to include sweatshirts, wallets, purses, key chains and more. She also began importing other fabrics from Portugal including the blue and white “azulejo” print that is very traditional and well known. She is excited and extremely honoured to be participating in this year’s Carassauga Festival as an artisan and vendor. 05/27/2022
