As a therapist, my overall goal is for my clients to feel heard, understood, valued, and cared. At the beginning of every session I talk about transparency. I emphasize and encourage my clients to be transparent with me. Whether they find I am pressing them too hard, or maybe not pressing them enough, I value and appreciate transparency as it is necessary for the therapeutic alliance. What are some of your non-negotiables with your therapist?

Sometimes focusing on the past keeps us from moving forwards towards a better future. The past can hurt but it cannot be changed. Living in the present means that you are dedicating time and energy towards what is happening to you in the “now.” Time is always now, at this moment.

Just as social distancing can help lessen the growth & spread of COVID-19, social media distancing can possibly help lessen the fear, panic, and anxiety that you may be experiencing. ⁣

What are other positive ways to couple with anxiety? ⁣

write down three things you are grateful for everyday • try a virtual yoga class• connect with others- catch up with friends • enjoy the opportunity to get creative in the kitchen • try a new virtual workout class • FaceTime with family members • finally get around to making an appointment with a therapist

As the coronavirus has spread swiftly, I have seen and witnessed a lot of fear, worry, and panic. What I have also seen from this pandemic is love, understanding, compassion, and unity. • I have seen posts from individuals asking if they can help support local businesses that may be suffering. I have seen ads for individuals asking if the elderly needs additional help with buying groceries. Although the situation we are put in right now is nowhere near ideal, I have recognized the beauty of the world uniting and coming together. We are STRONG! We are BETTER TOGETHER 💫

Together we can get through this. We are all going through a very difficult time right now. Coronavirus is impacting our lives. Social distancing is not easy whatsoever. When we all put our efforts together, great things can happen. Let us be the light. A little goes a long way. Stay safe. Take care of your health. Call loved ones. Do something that makes you happy today. If you need to talk, I am here to listen ❤️ | Xx, Joelle 🥀

Boundaries allow us to conserve our emotional energy. You do not need to have the same boundaries for everyone and every situation. Boundaries enable us to have a different radius depending on the situation or person so that you can maintain enough energy to care for yourself.

Our energy impacts us emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually. If we waste too much time and energy on certain things, we end up losing more than just time and energy. Every time we check social media or launch an app, we need to make sure it serves our needs- not just our wants.
