Great question from Sebastian, a grade 2 student, who is wondering what an is in .
Simply put, an interval is a distance in pitch between two tones or notes, similar to saying that a distance between two points is a unit of measurement, for example, a meter or a foot.
It is best to use a piano or guitar to hear what an interval sounds like, so next time you're in front of a piano try playing two notes at the same time. That is an interval.
Ask yourself "Does this sound happy/sad/good/bad/scary/dark?"
