Anishinabe lawyer David Nahwegahbow, founding member & former President of the Indigenous Bar Association, spoke to OVED today about the damaging effects of the residential school system on Indigenous children, racism and legal reparations. We also discussed intergenerational trauma in Indigenous & Jewish communities.

In today's OVED meeting, Indigenous rights advocate Ryan Bellerose shared insights on the historical plight and trauma of Metis people whose culture, homesteads & livelihoods were destroyed by Canada’s colonial system. Some of the topics discussed included poverty, cycle of abuse, missing & murdered women, and what it would take to make a difference.
