Greetings Chess Fans,

Our Fall Chess Programs start next Monday and Wednesday. This is the season that we start to focus on the school tournament season come March/April and I can't stress enough the benefit of playing as many challenging In-Person games as possible before the real pressure mounts. Our seven o'clock class is for the more advanced and disciplined players.

Space is limited.
Contact me for further information or go online to register.

Greetings Chess Fans,

I pray we all had a good summer, our summer chess program went along quite swimmingly thank you very much - we filled all of our seats for both program sessions. Now that the weather is turning, we avert our attention to more scholarly pursuits, like chess, with an eye on fun competition and the tournament season in April.

This year we have our Fall chess programs scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays starting on the week of September 9. (Please find literature enclosed.)

Our Chess Nation Charity BBQ is on Saturday 7 September at the Real Canadian Superstore in St. Catharines. We set up our garden chess set, a couple tables, and with the help of a few volunteer chess players we raise awareness for chess and donations for Community Care. Please contact me if you are interested in having your children or yourself volunteer.

The Grape Festival Parade is on Saturday 28 September. This is our second year participating in the parade and all past medal winners are invited to attended. Follow the links through www.chessnation.org for sign-up information.

Mark your calendar! we are adding two P.D. Day Chess Nation Tournaments this year: the first on Friday 17 January and the second on Friday 14 February. They will be age specific: 13 and under,10 and under, and 8 and under. Details to be announced at a later date.

September is always a busy season for us, so please help and spread the good word about the benefits of chess. If you would like to volunteer and start or help with chess at your school contact me and with my program basics I can make it easy.

The end of another great summer chess season on the grounds of the Hannalore Headley Chess Park at the Up House. Blowing ceremonial bubbles with our two well deserving champions.

Greetings Chess Fans,

Our eleven week Autumn intermediate chess program commences on Monday 11 September. There are two time slots with the 7:00 session for the more advanced and competitive players - 10 seats per session.

We will be running two simultaneous tournaments during our sessions. The weekly timed Swissys game using a clock will be the first game of the evening followed by the perpetual pyramid tournament games without clocks. In this way we can slowly alleviate any anxiety associated with time management then play the more casual games.

A Gold Membership to chesskid.com is now included to support our curriculum with reports generated weekly. Parents/Guardians can also enjoy a complimentary coffee/tea at Chocolates Etc. located across the street while they are waiting.

This year, 2017 marks the fifth successful year that we have instituted chess for children into the Niagara Region. I would like to thank all of my support staff for there dedication, the teachers at DSBN for allowing us to come into their schools, the parents for appreciating the magic that chess brings into their homes and the children for the excitement that they bring to the table.
