Die Candela Project Gallery mit Sitz im Münchener Glockenbachviertel gibt es seit 2008. In
München sind wir die bislang einzige Galerie, die sich ausschließlich auf die Präsentation
und Vermittlung von Gegenwartsfotografie spezialisiert hat. Die Galerie vertritt sowohl
etablierte Positionen aus der internationalen Fotoszene als auch junge, noch unbekannte
Talente. Zu unseren besonderen Anliegen ge

hört schließlich die gezielte Förderung
aufstrebender, internationaler Nachwuchskünstler. Ihnen möchten wir mit Ausstellungen in
den Galerieräumen oder an exklusiven Off-Locations die Möglichkeit bieten, sich und ihre
Arbeit erstmalig vorzustellen. Für junge Kunstfreunde und Sammler verlegen wir limitierte
Sondereditionen und bieten Unikate an. Ziel der Candela Project Gallery ist es, mit unserem
Programm ein besonderes und einzigartiges Portal für junge, zeitgenössische Fotografie zu
schaffen. Ab März 2011 bietet das Candela Project auf der neuen Webseite www.candela-project.com
eine Online-Kaufoption an, begleitet von ausführlichen Werkschauen und Informationen zu allen
vertretenen Künstlern. Sammler und Fotoliebhaber auf der ganzen Welt können Fotokunst von
etablierten Fotografen und aufstrebenden Nachwuchskünstlern nun auch online erwerben. English Version

The Candela Project Gallery, with its headquarters in the Munich Glockenbach district,
opened in 2008. For a long time now, we have been the only gallery in Munich which
specialises exclusively in the presentation and placement of contemporary photography. The
gallery acts on behalf of both established positions from the international photo scene, as
well as young, as yet unknown talents. The active promotion of ambitious, international upcoming
artists has a special place amongst our central interests. With exhibitions in our
gallery rooms or at exclusive other locations, we wish to provide young photographers an
opportunity to introduce themselves and their work for the first time. We publish limited
special editions and offer unique prints for young art lovers and collectors. With our
programme, the aim of the Candela Project Gallery is to create a special and unique portal
for new, contemporary photography.

Trophies, a photo series By photographer Chad Coombs, based in Saskatoon, Canada. Chad Coombs is a 30 year old photographer from Saskatoon, Canada. For his series Trophies, Coombs says he uses masks because they create anonymity. “It’s not a portrait of someone but a story being told with a fictional character,” Coombs says. “They are called trophies because they are busts just like when a person puts a deer bust on their wall that they have killed in a hunt. (They are) trophies of accomplishments.” As for the story behind the trophy, that’s for you to make up. “I don’t typically (write) artist statements because it can prevent someone from discovering something in a photo I didnt even mean or think. I think that’s the greatest thing about art. It evolves with every view it receives from someone new.” Coombs shot this series with Polaroid and painted the model’s body to blend in with the background. “I used a water base skin safe paint. I’ve used latex house paint before. I did a clown self portrait and painted my body from knees up completely white. I then spent three hours in a bathtub scrapping it off. Candela Project Gallery visits MUNICH CONTEMPO ART FAIR.

Die Munich Contempo findet 2011 bereits zum zweiten Mal statt. Dieses Jahr im Münchner Postpalast. Internationale Performance Künstler Eva und Adele sind gleich zum Start der Messe vor Ort. Wir finden ein Besuch lohnt sich. Öffnungszeiten am 20. Oktober – 22. Oktober 11 am – 7 pm und am 23. Oktober von 11 am bis 6 pm.

Die zweite Ausgabe der
Munich Contempo – International Contemporary Art Fair
Introito
Die in 2010 gegründete Messe für Zeitgenössische Kunst, die Munich Contempo – International Contemporary Art Fair ist gewachsen und hat guten Zulauf internationaler Galerien. Dazu ist eine neue Sektion entstanden, das „promising land“, die sogenannte „emerging galleries“ aufnimmt. In der „main section“ finden sich die Wiederkehrer der ersten Ausgabe ein, darunter Messe-Beirat Michael Schultz (Berlin, Seoul, Peking), Jiri Svetska (Prag, Berlin), Galeria Hauser (Spanien, Coruna), Arthobler aus Lissabon (Portugal), Matthias Kampl und Galerie Braunbehrens (München). Dazu gibt es spannende internationale Neuzugänge wie die Galerien Leo Koenig und von Lintel aus New York, neben der Baik Song Gallery aus Seoul die With Space Gallery aus Korea (Seoul) mit internationalem Programm, die Galeria Punto aus dem spanischen Valencia zählt ebenfalls dazu. Auch für Schweizer Galerien ist die zweite Ausgabe der Munich – Contempo ein Magnet: Die auf iranische Kunst spezialisierte AB Gallery aus Zürich und Luzern und die ebenfalls in Zürich beheimatete Hammer Gallery mit Fokus auf zeitgenössische Photographie freuen sich auf ihre Teilnahme an der zweiten Messe-Ausgabe. Aus Wien konnten die Galerien Konzett und white8 dazu gewonnen werden, aus der Bundeshauptstadt Berlin hat sich u.a. die Galerie Springer & Winkler für ihr Exposure in München entschlossen. In der Abteilung „promising land“ zeigen sich Aussteller aus Spanien, den USA (New York), Zimbabwe und anderen Nationen. Organisator und Veranstalter der zweiten Munich Contempo – International Contemporary Art Fair ist die Expo-Management GmbH mit CEO Wolf Krey und Birte Duggen.

The Second Edition of
Munich Contempo – International Contemporary Art Fair

2010 founded Munich Contempo – International Contemporary Art Fair has both grown and
widely been welcomed by international galleries. So in addition the novel section “promising land”
was created featuring solo shows of single young artists and so-called “emerging galleries”. It is
here where new collectors can find their object; it is here where young art is supported. The “main
section” will again house many of the first edition’s contributors and also greet many new ones
from all over the world, such as Baik Song Gallery and With Space Gallery from Korea, AB Gallery
from Zurich and Lucerne, which is specialised in Iranian art, or the likewise Zurich-based Hammer
Gallery which is focusing on contemporary photography. Different from last year the location of
Munich Contempo altered as the event was moved into the columned hall directly connected to the
Postpalast’s Rotunda. An architectural link to the main complex will as well be established. Within
the Rotunda, including the annex buildings, 56th Kunst-Messe München is going to take place and
open its gates together with Munich Contempo on the vernissage-eve of October 19th. Host and

Die Fotogalerien Münchens - Galerie Jo van de Loo, Galerie Jordanow, Micheko, Galerie f5,6 und Candela Project Gallery - laden zum Gallery Crawl am Samstag den 15. Oktober ein. Um 16:00 Uhr treffen sich alle Interessierten an der Galerie f5,6 und werden von dort zu den teilnehmenden Galerien geführt.
