Have you - or are thinking about - donating to a Black supporting charity? There are so many lists going around right now, and so many fantastic options. In Canada, check out the (https://www.canadahelps.org/en/black-solidarity-fund/) which goes to over 40 charities that are supporting Black Canadians. The full list of charities that they support is available on the website. Also check out:
Black Health Alliance
Black Youth Helpline
Black Lives Matter - Toronto
Black Lives Matter - Vancouver, BC
Federation of Black Canadians/Fédération des Canadiens Noirs

Let's talk podcasts!
I'm a dinosaur, and literally just discovered a love for podcasts in December so I've been saving and catching up on all of them (go back and listen from the beginning, it's worth it to understand that the issues that you're hearing about today are not new, even if you're hearing about them for the first time). These are the ones that I've been listening to from Black creators about Black lives and systemic racism. Are there any others that you would recommend?

Two guys who were inspired by a trip to the museum, they have an episode about Tokenism that every white person needs to hear.

If you struggle with believing there is such a thing as white privilege, this is the podcast for you.

Hosted by Layla F. Saad - if you don't listen to any other Black person in this list, listen to Layla. Actually, you've probably already seen her in the news or read an article about or by her. Just listen.

Justice in America
https://theappeal.org/topics/justice-in-america/
Hosted by Josie Duffy Rice and Clint Smith, this is the sister podcast to The Appeal, and it's my favourite because it focuses on working through systemic racism, where it came from, how it works, and what can be done about it. If you fall asleep watching TV shows about law, this probably isn't the podcast for you. If that's your jam, definitely start back at episode 1.

I loved seeing so many squares, but now we're Friday and with few exceptions the only voices left posting about Black lives, justice, and equity are Black voices.
Black lives matter. Not all lives matter: Black. Lives. Matter. And white people need to talk about it too.
If those words anger or offend you, if you don't understand or you think it’s wrong that people are protesting, if you think "that's just in the US” and "that doesn't happen in Canada," or if you only just started learning about this and are interested in learning more about your white privilege and what you can help change: this post is for all you.
For the next week Made by Rydz social media will be focused on amplifying Black voices: sharing accounts, charities, media, companies, and doing our part to push back against systemic racism everywhere. Yes, even here in Canada. If you would like to learn more about this, please check out these Instagram & Facebook accounts, with more links to resources in my profile *all of my own business links have been removed for this week.
If there’s an account that has helped educate you, please share it in the comments. This is by no means an exhaustive list, just some that I’ve been following that I found helpful. They have done the labour-intensive, emotional work to educate, and all I ask is that you look, and listen, and give them your time. I’m open to pms as well if you’d like to chat more.

to that time I made myself a diaper bag. Cloth diapering 2 under 2 was no joke, I wanted a bag that could hold it all and the kitchen sink too! I used softshell for the outer and inner layers, making this water resistant too - because but also because I'm a too.
Fun fact: the straps are upcycled carseat straps! A couple of months before making this bag, my eldest and I were in a big accident and his carseat needed to be replaced. When I cut the straps of the old seat, I cut them as close to the seam as possible to salvage them for this project.

But for real though, mornings are not my jam. I relate probably too much to every groundhog, every Feb 2nd, wondering why someone is dragging them out of bed. 💤💗💤
