Florence needs our help!

This sweet girl was brought into rescue last fall from a shelter. She was found abandoned, in heat, and tied to a pole. An animal control officer was contacted and they took her to a shelter. We rescued her from that shelter when she was at her deadline and running out of time to be rescued.

She came into rescue with what appeared to be either an eye injury or no eye at all, and missing toes.

Thank you to anyone who donated this spring to have her foot x-rayed and to further explore what was going on with her eye💕 It has been discovered that her eye is missing. It runs constantly.

She's also been limping, so we had her xrayed recently and now she is showing luxating patella to the degree of 3 out of 4 which is fairly significant, on both hind legs. This is a condition where the kneecap slips out of place and when it does it causes pain and discomfort. We have to start fundraising now for her surgery as we know it's going to take a while to raise the funds.
She's estimated to be only about 4 years old, so she still has a lot of life ahead of her.

Please come by and say Hi tomorrow at Renfrew Pet Valu to Florence and her friend, Sara, between 11 a.m. and noon. We'll have a donation jar to raise funds for Florence's surgery. She is such a sweet girl, and deserves a good life, free of pain and discomfort. She's already been through enough. We don't know why she was abandoned or what happened to her eye and toes.

Proceeds to Valley Animal Rescue.

Kiba, the homeless dog, came into rescue yesterday and spent her first night in the safety of a kennel 💕

It was quite a big day for her, and needless to say, a stressful one due to having her first vet visit. She was scared and didn't want to be touched. Thank you to the pawsome staff at Renfrew Animal Hospital for helping her to get through the appointment 🥰

This is the report from yesterday's vet visit:
Received Rabies/dapp/lepto/lyme/bordetella vaccines - needs booster in 3 weeks.
4dx test - NEGATIVE
Sent home Nexgard spectra x2
Skin swabs- yeast and bacteria on the skin
Skin issues - redness on her belly/armpits/groin/itchy - sent home Apoquel (anti-itch)
Sent home cephalexin(antibiotic)
Sent home ketoconazole (antifungal)
She'll need a re-check in 3 weeks for the skin conditions and to have her booster shots.

Her vet visit yesterday came to = $ 696.54

A HUGE THANK YOU to Jack and Terri of Peever's TLC Boarding Kennel just outside of Pembroke. They've started Kiba on her meds today, and are giving her time and space to destress in a quiet part of the facility. They said that she stayed at the back of the kennel last night, and actually came out and walked around the office on her own, but she didn't want them too close to her. She will need time to trust new people.

In the coming days she'll slowly and safely get introduced to other dogs as to not overwhelm her. THANK YOU to everyone who has already donated to help pay for her boarding fees, and vetting. Every dollar helps.

The good news Peevers reported today is that Kiba wagged her tail this morning when they went to her kennel💕

We'll post some updated pics as they become available. We've been told she's a mix of Husky/Lab/Boxer and Bernese. She's certainly a pretty colour combination. Her weight yesterday was 70 lbs.
