Skipping the census doesn’t “send a message.”
It erases your community needs from the numbers.
The census is from Stats Canada - all levels of governments to ensure all communities and groups of people have what they need:
* Health, mental health & crisis support
* Schools and childcare
* Housing and homelessness
* Infrastructure
* Economic & employment gaps
* Transit and local services
* Supports for seniors, families, and marginalized groups
* Advocacy and legal aid
When people don’t respond, their area will have fewer resources, weaker planning, and longer wait times. The census ensures funding is distributed to the specific geographic areas and demographic group facing special challenges.
“Why are services so bad here?” Because the data says fewer people are there and their needs are not taken into account.
You don’t hurt Ottawa by ignoring the census.
Fill it out. Be counted. ~Michelle

Rural communities in the Eastern Townships — and across Canada — are invisible on federal cellular coverage maps. A Compton-Stanstead MP is trying to change that.
Martinville went 16 hours with zero communication after a single fibre line snapped. A women's shelter held its breath through a three-hour blackout hoping no one needed 911. A Coaticook grocer can't guarantee his delivery drivers have a signal.
These are the stories behind Bill C-268 — and Marianne Dandurand brought every one of them to Ottawa.

The theme of the month is Banned Books. Throughout history, many books have faced censorship for their controversial themes, challenging ideas, or simply for being ahead of their time. This month, we reflect on the importance of intellectual freedom and the role that books play in broadening our understanding of the world.
