Sunset Charters offers premium guided fishing charters for Salmon and Halibut in beautiful Chatham Sound and the Prince Rupert area.

May kicks off the season every year with great early Chinook fishing, and as we get into June good numbers of Chinook have made their way into the area, hanging around and gorging themselves on herring and needlefish. Numerous Tyees (30+pounds) are regularily caught and there is always the chance of a 50+ latching on to your hooks! By the end of June the Coho start to show up and they will pack on

That time of year again….

Well it’s definitely been HOGust around Rupert this year! We’ve seen some great chinook action in the last few weeks and a bunch of tyees.

As per sunset charters policy, all but one of these tyees were released, due to a hook placement that didn’t bode well for its survival.
Hopefully we see more of these beauties in the coming weeks and years to come!

An impromptu trip in the harbour for a bbq dinner provided some hot dogs, venison burgers and three beauty springs!
Almost time to retire the skinny g that’s been our top producer all winter, but we’ll wait till it stops working!

It was great to get out for a quick fish with family and friends this past weekend! Crabbing was excellent. Lots of herring around these days, and a few nice springs among them!

Big fish make us smile!
And there were huge smiles as we watched these fish swim away this past 2024 season. Our policy is to release all tyees (30 # lbs) so we can let these beauties go make more.
Looking forward to the 2025 season just around the corner!

It can be tough not to move when the spot you’re fishing is slow, but having patience and waiting for the bite to turn on will often pay off like it did here for our guide and guest
Great work and great fish guys!

(And I hear the truly big one during the bite got away)

We’re excited to welcome Taylor to the sunset team for the 2024 season! And the quick orientation in the harbour this afternoon turned out to be a productive one!
